DESCRIPTION
Keyword Manager introduces a brand new way of assigning keywords to your photos in a simple and efficient way.

Keyword Manager expands the functionality of your familiar iPhoto setup, and will greatly enhance your photo management experience. Download and try Keyword Manager today!

  • Hierarchical keyword grouping
For example, you can have the keyword Paris as a subkeyword to France. Every time you assign Paris to a photo, France will also be assigned to that photo.
  • Much faster than any AppleScript based solution
AppleScript based solutions become excruciatingly slow when assigning and removing keywords from a large amount of photos. Keyword Manager taps directly into iPhoto's own keywording system, for optimal performance.
  • Intelligent solutions for fast keywording
Smart auto-completion helps you increase the rate at which you keyword your photos. Non-obtrusive auto-correction suggestions helps you avoid creating similar duplicate keywords.
  • Assign keywords while in full-screen mode
With Keyword Manager you can still assign keywords to your photos, even when viewing them in full-screen mode.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.5.3:
  • Fixed issue with the installer not allowing the user to install Keyword Manager with the latest iPhoto version.
REQUIREMENTS

MEMPHISBIRD  I would have contacted the developer directly, but I don't see any way to do that on the website, except for the forum that is filled with spam. I tried to install the latest update and it tells me there is "no valid iPhoto version on this system." Additionally, the modification date on the downloaded 1.5.3 installer says March 29, 2009. Is it really an update? Do I have the correct file? Do I even need this update? My current version is working just fine.

UMIJIN  Hmmm... The updater wouldn't work with iPhoto '06 (said it couldn't find a compatible version of iPhoto). The previous version had this limitation, and the MU description suggests it still works with '06.

JFM  I hope a new version will be released soon - it will probably take a few days. I am waiting for it too, I find it very useful, and the exciting additions to iPhoto don't replace this plugin.

DISPLACED  I got it to work in Leopard :)

Look in /Library/InputManagers/ and ~/Library/InputManagers and delete SIMBL.

Re-download the latest SIMBL from http://www.culater.net/software/SIMBL/SIMBL.php and let it install.

Re-install Keyword Manager.

If you have anything in ~/Library/InputManagers, move them to /Library/InputManagers.

Leopard will only run InputManager plugins from the all-users Library.

QUBEX  Brilliant! It worked for me too.

I'm somewhat ambivalent about relocating all my InputManagers to /Library though - I'm inclined to not trust injectable code further than I can throw it.

WINSTEPH  Great plug-in. But it won't load in v. 7.1.

QUBEX  The latest Apple iLife update + Leopard install has killed Keyword Manager. It no longer appears in iPhoto. Uninstalling/reinistalling doesn't work.

Any idea when it'll be fixed? It has become second nature to me by now, I can't work without it!

GAVIN CUTSHALL  This is an awesome tool, and I am a registered owner.

Please release an iPhoto 7.0.1 compatible upgrade so I can enjoy all the KM goodness with iLife '08.

Thanks!

DWEINGART  I was a longtime fan of the free Keyword Assistant program, so the developers of Keyword Manager had a high hurdle to overcome to convince me to go from a free product that I liked to a shareware product.

Well, I'm a registered user now. This program has such a fast and easy interface that it makes adding keywords to your photos fun.

Highly recommended if you have a lot of photos. Two things impressed me in particular:

1) If you change your keyword structure the keywords already assigned to your photos change to reflect the new structure.

2) The ability to copy and paste keywords from one photo to another. Big timesaver.

I only gave the program a 4 for features because I can see some logical areas for it to gain more abilities.

For example, it could offer the ability to embed your keywords into the photos themselves (I don't think iPhoto does that currently).

But overall this program gets a 5 star rating from me.
