DESCRIPTION

Folder Splitter can split one large folder into several smaller ones.

Features:

  • Define the Maximum Size of the Destination Folders. (useful if you want to backup the folders to CDs/DVDs)
  • Decide, whether to move or copy the files to their new destination.
  • Choose between the option to keep the files in their alphabetical order or to minimize the number of required Destination Folders.
  • Include a Log File with every new folder.
  • "Folder UnSplit": Combine the splitted folders to a new single folder. (Reverse the Splitting process.)

WHAT'S NEW
Version 0.9b10:
  • Fixes a StackOverflow for deep folder hierarchies.
  • Sorting is now numerical.
  • LogFile shoould now handle unicode characters better.
  • Folder Splitter's very first step is to count all the source items. This is now reflected in the status bars (instead of Folder Splitter just being unresponsive.)
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

CROPP  Extremely usefull little app.

As a feature request, it definitely needs a "preview" button so you can check what will be done before you do it for real...

GRUMPYTICO  I used it shortly for splitting 8 GB into to two folders for burning - it did it flawlessly.

I then tried with my home folder so I could have a backup and it did had some problems with special characters - nonetheless, it has a bright bright future.

Considering others are asking $40 for basically the same thing (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22687) I think this is an amazing tool.

EASER  This is a really handy program. I've had no problems with it. The developer is very responsive to requests. Plus it's free. You can't ask for more.
