DESCRIPTION

How do you move Audiobooks to your iPod® or iPhone™? Do you rip to iTunes®, then move every imported track to a special playlist before syncing? That means hundreds of confusing track names cluttering iTunes and your iPod or iPhone, with no way to save your place in a track when you take a break, and working with iTunes' Import settings just gets old.

Now there's Audiobook Builder, the easy way to import your Audiobook CDs (or tracks that are already on your Mac), organize them, add enhanced chapter markers and output files that your iPod or iPhone will recognize as actual Audiobooks. The results are automatically sent to a special playlist in iTunes - ready for your next iPod or iPhone sync.

No more wading through hundreds of tracks on your iPod or iPhone. No more wasted storage space. And no more losing your place - it's saved automatically each time you take a break from listening to your favorite Audiobooks.

Features Include:

  • Audio file joining: Already ripped your CDs? There's no need to suffer through it again.
  • Enhanced chapter stops: Custom artwork you specify will appear in iTunes and on iPods with a color display.
  • Adjustable quality settings: Start with the included presets, but feel free to customize each project's audio settings to suit your personal taste.
  • iTunes integration: Audiobook Builder can add the current selection in iTunes to your projects. It can also send its output directly to a special playlist in iTunes.
  • Quite a memory: Each Audiobook Builder project's audio data is contained in the project document file, so you are free to start a project now, take a break and return to finish your project later. You can even move projects between Macs, if necessary.

MAHOJAS  I have enjoyed using this application for years now, and I can't find a better one on the market. Thanks to AB I now have quite a considerable collection of audio books in my iTunes library which I listen to on my iPod. It works smoothly and cleanly in all respects. All that at a very affordable price.

SASASUSHI  This application is absolutely awesome! It does what it purports to do elegantly. I was also very pleasantly surprised at it's low price. I can't recommend it highly enough.

KZX72  What an awesome program, one of my favorites no doubt. Question though - does anyone know if it's possible to make an audiobook "Part length" longer than 12 hours? That's the max on this program and I needed a single part that's 13 hours long...

MERLIK  I have had this for quite a while and I use the heck out of it. I love audiobooks but using just iTunes to convert the cds to audiobooks can be a pain. With this it makes one Audiobook File with chapters that can be played on my iPod. There are a couple of features that I would like but I can't argue for the cost of this software. Keep up the great work Splasm.

KOSOVAR1  Whoops! AudioBook Builder is not perfect: It choked when I try to join large mp3 files, like those approaching a gigabyte. But it DID convert a very large collection of audiobook files into about fifty books, each one divided into two or three files each. Only about one book in ten failed to convert, I assume because each file was too large. Still worth the price though. (See previous review.)

KOSOVAR1  I'm more satisfied with Audiobook Builder than I've been with any shareware I've purchased in years. So far, Audiobook Builder works exactly as the developer claims, and best of all, it seems to have a 100% success rate in joining mp3s. I've already converted a dozen books. The feature set is maybe a bit limited and the program is not exactly speedy, but everything it does functions perfectly. Best of all, the chapter creation function could not be simpler. I have an enormous audiobook collection, but my iTunes and ipod were becoming littered with thousands of mp3 files, which was annoying and impractical to say the least. For the past year, I'd been struggling with Join Together, which only worked about a third of the time, and with Join Together, I could never chapterize my converted audiobooks because Join Together requires the use of Apple's Chapter Tool (which--strangely--I was never able to find on the internet). Anyway, when I discovered AudioBook Builder, it came as a godsend and it was the best $10 I ever spent!

ROSENKRIEGER  By far THE best Audiobook Application for Mac.

The only thing I wish that would be added: Batch Processing.

I would love to setup 10-15 jobs to convert MP3s to Audiobooks and have my iMac do all the work while I am sleeping instead of having to one after another after another after another...

GAP1028  Nice program and does what it says. However, I find it can get lost and reset to beginning of file. I am using an iPod nano (gen 1) and when it hits some (not all) chapter boundries it loses its place and stops playing. Is this an first gen iPod problem? Is there a way of seeing play count of each of the chapters?
