EDITOR NOTES
Upgrades from previous versions are $3.99.
DESCRIPTION
AppDelete is an uninstaller for Macs that will remove not only Applications but also Widgets, Preference Panes, Plugins and Screensavers along with their associated files. Without AppDelete these associated items will be left behind to take up space and potentially cause issues. For a proper uninstall don't just delete but be sure to AppDelete!
You can drag any item that can be uninstalled onto AppDelete: Applications, Widgets, Preference Panes, Plugins, Screensavers, etc. You can also activate AppDelete in many ways: dragging items onto main window, onto dock icon, selecting in menu, right-clicking using AppDelete workflow, and throwing items in the trash. When the preview screen appears you can uncheck any items you would like to exclude. You also have several choices: delete the items, log only the items, or archive (copy) the items to a .zip file for safekeeping or reinstall at a later date. The items you delete will be moved to the trash and arranged in a folder so that you can see exactly what was deleted and you know exactly where it came from. The items will not be removed from your computer until you empty them from your trash. You can also undo the last delete if you choose.
There are various options to make your AppDelete experience complete: Quick search panels to help choose items for deletion, Force Empty Trash, an Orphans feature to search and delete orphaned files, Install from Archive even for another Mac, various options in Preferences, and more...Try it today!

RORO01 IMPORTANT FEATURE REQUEST What we really need is a feature to detect preference files which are not associated with any application, i.e files of applications where we have deleted the applications (before we had AppDelete) but forgot to delete their preference files. (Version 2.2)

FORMICA I have tried AppDelete 2.2.2, and it's kind of nice. However, when compared with AppCleaner 1.2.2, the difference is striking. AppCleaner does most of the things that all of the reviewers below have asked for, it finds files associated with the main app you deleted that ALL OF THE OTHER SUCH APPS MISS, it is totally unobtrusive and doesn't impact your CPU or memory AT ALL as far as I can tell, it works automatically, and it is FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE! It is truly better than ALL other apps of its kind, and yet it is FREE! If you don't believe me, just look at what "OTHER PEOPLE SUGGEST" above and to the right, just under the four-and-a-half stars this app has earned. As of this writing, of the four apps in this category that people recommend, CleanApp received 4 votes, AppZapper got 8, AppTrap garnered 10, and AppCleaner destroyed the competition with 49 VOTES!! That suggests a level of user satisfaction far, far higher than the others, so much higher in fact that it's apparent that people love it for all its capabilities and performance -- not just its price (which, again, is FREE!). Try AppCleaner, and don't forget to set the preferences to "Protect launched apps," "Protect default apps," and "Enable 3D transitions," also turn on SmartDelete, then one-by-one select the "Applications," "Widgets" and "Others" icons at the top of AppCleaner's main window, and with each one select the "Options" menu (in the Menubar) then "Select All" to instruct AppCleaner to protect all those apps, widgets and other resources from being deleted, then you can uncheck one-by-one all the ones that you don't want AppCleaner to protect. Trust me, you'll love this app with it set like this! Enjoy! (Oh, and BTW, I am in no way affiliated with the makers of AppCleaner, and I don't know them. I just LOVE IT when truly great software is made available for FREE, and I feel such magnanimous developers should be promoted whenever possible, even when it's a bit annoying (as this comment is because it's in another app's MacUpdate space). FORMICA I don't understand your comment - I never said AppDelete was free, I said AppCleaner was free. (Version 2.2.2)

SJK Whoops, you're right. Guess I was temporarily confused from reading too many comments. :) (Version 2.2.2)

FARIBORZ This application is gold and the support for it is platinum! I have never seen a developer who cares more about his product and its functionality. Those who moan and groan for a small $5.00 fee for such a superb program have a lot to learn about what the shareware concept really means. Thanks. FYREFLYE This has become one of my most useful apps. A click, a drag and drop, and all traces of the selected deletion disappear from my system. No more hunting around with "Find" or Spotlight to track down every stray piece. Worth every penny and more. (Version 2.1.1)

PXL After reading the comments... I thought I'd try this out. I mean... who can complain... it's only $5! After using the WONDERFUL app several times, $5 seems like nothing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AppDelete! (Version 2.0.2)

HOMER1 I'm a previous user of the older AppDelete who at some point in the past switched over to AppCleaner. Ive now been trying out this updated utility (using the Search function so as not to actually delete any applications) against AppCleaner and I did find that on the application Bento as well as a few others it (AppDelete) seems to find at least one additional file (seem to be the "cache" files) beyond what AppCleaner finds, which I would think makes for a more complet deletion. Developer is very responsive to emails and continues to update this application. Works perfectly under Snow Leopard 10.6.1. (Version 3.0)

OILYFLUTESALAD Nice little app, but one thing I'd love to see is a feature that will automatically detect other versions of an app and ask if I want to remove those too. For example, I got AppDelete to remove Opera after it was installed with both Photoshop CS3, and Flash CS4. Adobe seem to have installed Opera without my permission in at least half a dozen places, and there are (were) a good 2-3 versions or more on my system, none of which I need nor want. Besides, why should Opera be installed with Adobe apps anyway? There's no reason for it to be bundled with any apps, since the only browser it's better than (IMO) is Internet Explorer - and since that doesn't ship on Mac we have nothing to worry about. I use Firefox on every OS, will use Safari for testing websites occasionally, but I certainly don't want Opera's junk wasting 50 megs on any hard drive of mine. (Version 2.2.2)

CYBORG9 Well, I tried it but it left plenty of files behind of the app that I wanted deleted.. How do I know? I checked using EasyFind after using AppDelete. To be fair, none of the other application deleting apps always removes all an app's files. After using any of them, follow up by using EasyFind to see how efficient or inefficient they are. You can use FindAnyFile instead of EasyFind. It's as least as good. And either can be used to delete Apps and all their files reliably. (Version 2.2)

XENOPHILE Alternatively, you can skip the "deleting application" and just search for application related files using easyfind. Search for the developer name as well as the application name, and you'll usually get all the files. It also helps to know where to look for associated application files, which can vary depending on the tasks carried out by the application. (Version 2.2)
