EDITOR NOTES
Upgrades from previous versions are $3.99.
DESCRIPTION
AppDelete is an uninstaller for Macs that will remove not only Applications but also Widgets, Preference Panes, Plugins and Screensavers along with their associated files. Without AppDelete these associated items will be left behind to take up space and potentially cause issues. For a proper uninstall don't just delete but be sure to AppDelete!
You can drag any item that can be uninstalled onto AppDelete: Applications, Widgets, Preference Panes, Plugins, Screensavers, etc. You can also activate AppDelete in many ways: dragging items onto main window, onto dock icon, selecting in menu, right-clicking using AppDelete workflow, and throwing items in the trash. When the preview screen appears you can uncheck any items you would like to exclude. You also have several choices: delete the items, log only the items, or archive (copy) the items to a .zip file for safekeeping or reinstall at a later date. The items you delete will be moved to the trash and arranged in a folder so that you can see exactly what was deleted and you know exactly where it came from. The items will not be removed from your computer until you empty them from your trash. You can also undo the last delete if you choose.
There are various options to make your AppDelete experience complete: Quick search panels to help choose items for deletion, Force Empty Trash, an Orphans feature to search and delete orphaned files, Install from Archive even for another Mac, various options in Preferences, and more...Try it today!

GOLDYN CHYLD I used to be an AppZapper user for months. It seemed like a neat little app removal app with an extra cool "zap" sound when deleting an app. However, as time went by I noticed that it doesn't always remove all the files pertaining to a certain app, which started to bother me. I decided to look for an alternative, so I downloaded three other apps: AppCleaner, AppDelete and CleanApp. The way I tested them was to keep all three apps (plus AppZapper) open and then dragged individual apps from my Applications folder into each one of them separately to see how many additional/leftover files that belong to those apps they would pick. The result: AppDelete and CleanApp came first and with a tie most of the times (ok, sometimes CleanApp picked even one or two more files than AppDelete, but I don't even know where those came from), then came AppCleaner, and finally, with least picked up items, came AppZapper. For some reason I didn't like CleanApp as much - something bothered me about it. Perhaps it just wasn't as intuitive as AppDelete. I vacillated between AppDelete and AppCleaner, since the latter is quite good and free, too, but it clearly doesn't do as good a job in picking all the apps' leftovers as AppDelete does. Therefore, my ultimate pick was AppDelete and I don't regret it. It is a neat app with a neat Snow Leopardish look. Besides, AppDelete's developer is friendly and quick to respond to your e-mails, so if you want to get rid of an app and its leftovers as much as I do, spend those couple of bucks and get AppDelete. It's a good investment. (Version 3.0.1)

SEANC Just a question, how is this different or better than the free AppCleaner? (Version 3.0.1)

O5220803 AppDelete is a gem! Works perfectly; its added protection capabilities for Apple-installed programs, to prevent their accidental deletion, is a real plus. I is a well planned program that thoroughly removes unwanted applications and their components. Nice work! (Version 3.0.1)

HOMER1 I'm a previous user of the older AppDelete who at some point in the past switched over to AppCleaner. Ive now been trying out this updated utility (using the Search function so as not to actually delete any applications) against AppCleaner and I did find that on the application Bento as well as a few others it (AppDelete) seems to find at least one additional file (seem to be the "cache" files) beyond what AppCleaner finds, which I would think makes for a more complet deletion. Developer is very responsive to emails and continues to update this application. Works perfectly under Snow Leopard 10.6.1. (Version 3.0)

TRASPLER It looks very nice and I tempted in buying it but there is one feature which would make the app awesome: A little background agent which will monitor the trash and when you drag an app (or a folder with app(s) inside) into the trash it will automatically trigger AppDelete and let you delete all the associated files for the app. I hope you consider adding this. I'll check the app at a later point and will stick with AppCleaner because I just love this feature too much... (Version 3.0)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Thanks for the comment traspler! Actually AppDelete has been able to do this since Version 2. Sometimes it gets overlooked but it's just one of the many way to "trigger" AppDelete. In Snow Leopard right-clicking is also much improved due to how services now work and you might find you like this as well. Again thanks and if I can be of any further assistance send me an email and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Take care! From Reggie Developer for AppDelete (Version 3.0)

UNXADM Simply amazing. Removing installed programs has never been easier. Simply drag and drop, and the installed program and all it's little pieces are gone. I used to use AppZapper but since there hasn't been any updates in a really long time I found AppDelete, and I am glad I did. The price is quite reasonable for what you get. (Version 3.0)

KLAGRECA Good job Reggie. 3.0 looks great. You may want to consider simplifying the registration process within the software. Downloading a registered app vs simply using a registration number. (Version 3.0)

FORMICA I have tried AppDelete 2.2.2, and it's kind of nice. However, when compared with AppCleaner 1.2.2, the difference is striking. AppCleaner does most of the things that all of the reviewers below have asked for, it finds files associated with the main app you deleted that ALL OF THE OTHER SUCH APPS MISS, it is totally unobtrusive and doesn't impact your CPU or memory AT ALL as far as I can tell, it works automatically, and it is FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE! It is truly better than ALL other apps of its kind, and yet it is FREE! If you don't believe me, just look at what "OTHER PEOPLE SUGGEST" above and to the right, just under the four-and-a-half stars this app has earned. As of this writing, of the four apps in this category that people recommend, CleanApp received 4 votes, AppZapper got 8, AppTrap garnered 10, and AppCleaner destroyed the competition with 49 VOTES!! That suggests a level of user satisfaction far, far higher than the others, so much higher in fact that it's apparent that people love it for all its capabilities and performance -- not just its price (which, again, is FREE!). Try AppCleaner, and don't forget to set the preferences to "Protect launched apps," "Protect default apps," and "Enable 3D transitions," also turn on SmartDelete, then one-by-one select the "Applications," "Widgets" and "Others" icons at the top of AppCleaner's main window, and with each one select the "Options" menu (in the Menubar) then "Select All" to instruct AppCleaner to protect all those apps, widgets and other resources from being deleted, then you can uncheck one-by-one all the ones that you don't want AppCleaner to protect. Trust me, you'll love this app with it set like this! Enjoy! (Oh, and BTW, I am in no way affiliated with the makers of AppCleaner, and I don't know them. I just LOVE IT when truly great software is made available for FREE, and I feel such magnanimous developers should be promoted whenever possible, even when it's a bit annoying (as this comment is because it's in another app's MacUpdate space). SJK Whoops, you're right. Guess I was temporarily confused from reading too many comments. :) (Version 2.2.2)
