DESCRIPTION
Subliminal Message Pro helps you explore the idea of subliminal messages. Messages up to 80 characters are displayed in the middle of your display, on top of everything. The SMP Control Panel lets you set the on-screen time, the period between flashes, the font size, font color, bold on/off, and font darkness. Five message categories with five messages each are provided to help you understand how the program works but you can enter your own categories and messages. Displayed messages are chosen (in list order or at random) from checked messages.

Categories and messages may include Latin, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Greek, Korean, Cirillic, Hebrew, Russian, Afrikaans, Polish, etc., characters. Control Panel settings and Message Table information are saved between sessions. The Demo provides full features for ten minutes, after which time the application closes. Registration removes this limitation.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.2 lets you make the Message Maintenance window taller so that you can see more messages at once. You can also edit messages in the table.
REQUIREMENTS

RPPHOTO  I like this funny app, which also actually works. Never seen an app grow in version numbers so quickly, already at number 5. It does get alot of updates, though.  (Version 5.0)

PAUL YOUNG  You may not have noticed that the "Darkness" slider also dims the picture. You can make the picture completely impossible to see if you move this slider to the far left. Bring the slider up until the picture is just visible.

PAUL YOUNG  Robert, excellent question on timing. The on-screen time is the time that the information is sent to the screen but different displays have different response times. A flashed message on a slow display will be slower to decay.

ROBERT  With which CPU and graphics cards do the timing selections test as accurate for pictures?

Every setting seems the same--actually the shorter settings seems longer, though this may be because of my expectation that they be less noticeable. I find every image readily recognizable and quite superliminal. Images are even more intrusive by the white background that is flashed around them to fill the entire screen.

Oddly, pictures must be kept in a fixed subfolder of ~/Documents instead of a selectable folder or even a subfolder in... ~/Pictures. To make your images available to the program, you can make an alias to your folder of images, move it under ~/Documents, and rename it to "SMPictures".  (Version 4.5)
