    ****.

CORPSECORPS  I would have given Pangea Arcade a straight 5 stars were it not for a few needed tweaks, and the fact that not all 3 games are created equal.

All the eye (and ear) candy, including the game choice/option screen is exceptional, especially now that the flicker has been eliminated. Until it was corrected, i didn't know that it wasn't intentional, but i've noted the graphics now appear significantly more crisp.

Great soundtrack! Makes me feel like i'm in a Star Wars movie.

I still think the anaglyph display mode would be much more useable with some color calibration tools, and some changes to the rendering so there's less of a pink hue. (check out NASA Mars anaglyphs)

More important is the lack of capability to custom map keys and mouse functions. My arrow keys are taking a beating.

    ----

I'm completely addicted to Nucleus. Sound, graphics, and playability are all excellent, even if i am having a devil of a time getting past Neon! Amazing playability considering the graphic density.

    ----

Warheads is almost as good. Having the 4 zones gives a good mix of play and the graphics are interesting. However, the speed at which difficulty increases keeps me from playing it extensively. I miss having some way to restore structures. Could use a bit of something to give it more variety.

    ----

Firefall is easily the weakest entry. Ambrosia's Apeiron was such an excellent Centipede-alike, Firefall falls very short. Play is only so-so. Dying is too easy while control is difficult. Both keyboard and mouse produce imprecise accelerating movement. Firefall feels clunky, as if given less attention and refinement than the others games. Graphics are comparatively uninteresting.

If i were rating it alone, i'd give playability a 2 for awkward control, and a 3 for the less interesting appearance.

CORPSECORPS  I have 1 pair of high quality anaglyph glasses, as well as two types of cheap cardboard ones.

Whichever i use, the game elements show significant red ghosting. This thing badly needs a calibration screen of some kind.

FLASH1296  Awewsome. This is the standard-bearer for arcade games.

I am hopelessly addicted to Firefall, playing at least an hour or two a day. My high score is about 400,000. What is yours?

STUNTYCOW  All three of these games are really fun, though I didn't really enjoy firefall all that much. The graphics and sound for these games is also very wewll done, and the particle effects are pretty good too.

The best game is nucleus which is a fun change from the classic asteroids game, where you get missions to collect electrons and complete atoms to move ahead in levels.

The missile command type game is really good because the changing quadrants helps to make the game more interesting.

All-in-all it's a great set of games and it looks like the developers put alot of effort into making these games.

REDCLOUD  These are remakes of three classic games. "Firefall" is a remake of Centipede, "Warheads" is Missile Command, and "Nucleus" is Asteroids.

I'll start with Nucleus, since it is my favorite. The sound and graphics are as polished as you would expect from a modern game. However, Pangea didn't stop there. They updated the gameplay, giving you a mission to complete to advance between levels: you locate and collect electrons to orbit the nucleus of an atom. There are also power-ups you can collect to give you more points, shields, extra ships, or enhanced weapons. The "asteroids" vary between levels to keep things interesting. I'm hooked on this game, trying to discover what each new level holds in store.

Warheads is the Missile Command clone. There are four different quadrants, each with their own set of cities and supply of defensive missiles, as well as their own graphic look. An attack happens in one quadrant at a time, and the enemy missiles seem to come faster and faster as the game progresses. Again, the graphics and sound are top notch. A mouse makes for a much better control than the original Missile Command trackball, but it's still challenging to time your intercept launches just right.

Firefall seems to be the hardest to me, so I've played it the least. Maybe I just need to practice more, but my first few games were over too fast to really enjoy it, which is why I give the collection only 4 stars in playability. The graphics are great, though, and if you ever loved playing Centipede, you might be more enamored of Firefall than I was.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied to have spent my money on this collection. The look and sound of the games is amazing compared to the originals, and the gameplay and flow of the games is generally very good. A little tweaking to the learning curve on Firefall and they might have perfection.
