In addition to the traditional functions of a planbook (manage an entire year of up to 20 classes- 12 a day), this software allows you to link documents to your lessons (a word document describing a lab, for example), search your planbook and export your planbook to HTML or directly to an FTP or .Macserver.

Check out the Yahoo Group: Planbook for a mailing list and more information.

JAYSCOTTGOLD  Great program, especially for long range planning. Best support of any program I've ever seen. I emailed Jeff about an issue and heard from him within a few minutes. He said he would update the program to address the issue and did so the same night! I'd gladly pay more for programs to receive this type of support.

MACINTOSH SAUCE  Since I am going to be a secondary Social Science teacher soon, I was looking for an excellent program to make lesson plans on my Mac. From looking at the demo, I can see there are many useful features for a teacher. I especially like the report features...

Along with Gradekeeper, this program will make my teaching life much easier.

STEVE HICKEY  This is a great application that I use everyday to keep myself and my students organized. The support is personal and as fast if not faster than I have experienced .

HERM  I have been using Planbook for two years as a repository for my daily, weekly, and yearly lesson planning. I have found it to work as advertised and help me to keep track of information. My students constantly comment on how clear their two week calendar is to follow.

I have found the developer very receptive to ideas, improvements, and bug fixes.

I highly recommend using this piece of software in planning for your courses and in creating student calendars.

LBRDRAGON  I have been using PlanBook for a year now and I am constantly impressed with it's abilities. The program is very user friendly and accepts a wide variety of schedule types; standard, rotating, etc. Jeff is always responsive to any glitches or problems with the program. He is quick to patch any problems that are found. Jeff is also constantly adding new features, such as syncing to iCal. As a teacher himself, he is aware of the flexibility teachers need in a planbook and comes through for us!

DJC13  Program works as specified... Author is very responsive to suggestions for new features and responds quickly (through the yahoo group) to questions. I posed a question on a Saturday afternoon and got an answer (2 solutions) on Sunday. This is a teachers' program designed BY a teacher. I have used it for more than a year and it keeps getting better.

MARK G  A fantastic app! I am almost looking forward to planning lessons for the new year.

This app is regularly updated and the developer responds to several questions a day via the Yahoo group set up for this, despite being a practicing teacher himself

Recommended (as Apple did too!)

DPARRY  Fine replacement/companion to the paper planbook. The program continues to evolve, so features are regularly improved and added by Jeff Hellman, its very attentive, enthusiastic developer. Very good implementation; great potential.

QUALI  Update to 0.8.4 does not fix the issue with course colour changes on Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 with 2 GB DDR SDRAM running 10.4.8.

I am able to create courses and then select different colours within the course options dropdown, but when I attempt to apply changes nothing happens. When I try to cancel, nothing happens. App does not "freeze" but it does not permit me to "escape" from the course options dropdown.

JEFFH  Hi again.

Sorry the program is giving you problems. Does this bug occur with every planbook file that you create? Does the bug occur every time that you try to apply changes in the update courses window?

Could you do me a favor? Create a new, empty class in Planbook and send it to me before trying to change colors. Perhaps by looking at the file your version of Planbook creates I can track down the problem that you are having. My email can be found easily at: http://www.hellmansoft.com

I'd also encourage you to join the Yahoo Group listed above as it's often a quicker way to get help if you need it.

Thanks-

Jeff

QUALI  Problems remain in the PPC implementation (0.8.3.1).

When changing colours of classes, the app would not accept the changes made. The only fix was to quit the app, but then the data file was useless—opening with a date of 16 August 2006 and then hanging. All of my data seems to have disappeared.

JEFFH  I'll look into getting this bug fixed later tonight. If your data is critical please send your corrupt planbook file to me (you can find my e-mail at http://www.hellmansoft.com) and I'll try to restore it for you.
