Super GHOST is a computer solitaire version of the age-old game in which you try to add a letter before or after existing letters without making a word; one and two letter words do not count. If you make a word, you get a letter (the first letter is "G"). When you have all five letters ("GHOST"), you lose. In this version, you play against the computer. If the computer cannot add a letter without making a word, it takes a letter immediately. You can "challenge" the computer by clicking on the "I Challenge" button. The computer's word will be displayed and you will take a letter. If you catch the computer bluffing, the computer will take a letter. The Super GHOST word set includes over 80,000 American English words and the user can maintain his own word set using the Word Maintenance window.

Version 2.0 lets the user maintain his own word set using the Word Maintenance window.

VIOLAHENNY Needs to have a function where you can defend your word..like input it and have the computer check it against dictionary. I've "lost" several times using words that while not in everyday usage, exist in the standard dictionary (and are not proper nouns or foreign words, etc). Most recently the word I had in mind was "allegorically" and computer told me word I was buiding didn't exist. (I think it had gotten to "legor", or some similar middle section)

PAUL YOUNG The word set used by Super GHOST contains over 80,000 words. You can modify this word set if you wish. The name of the file is SuperGHOST.txt and it can be found in Users/name/Library/Preferences. The file is a plain text file with one word per line. Use TextEdit or similar application to edit this file to your heart's content and save it as a plain text file. If you decide to go back to the default file for any reason, just delete it and a new file will be created with the default words.

PAUL YOUNG With Version 2.0.0 you can maintain your own set of words. Click on Word Maintenance from the menu and a new window will open where you have a table of your words. You can add and delete words or make a simple text file (TextEdit is excellent) of your words (one word per line) and load this list of words into the table. Use ".txt" file suffix and Unicode (UTF-8) format for this file.

PAUL YOUNG GHOST lets you add a letter to the end of existing letters. A dictionary would help you beat the computer.

Super GHOST lets you add a letter to the beginning or to the end of existing letters. If you want to add a letter to the beginning of the existing letters, a dictionary would not be of too much help. Super GHOST was suggested by a GHOST user. A good GHOST player might not be as successful at Super GHOST.
