AlphaBaby lets even infants and toddlers have fun playing with the computer.
My kids love to play with the computer. Unfortunately, they also have the habit of renaming my hard drive to "axlfkaj". So, I wrote AlphaBaby so they could safely use the Mac without inflicting too much damage! Every time a key is pressed or the mouse is clicked, a letter or shape is drawn. Sounds can be played every time something is drawn.
Your own sounds and pictures can also be used. AlphaBaby helps kids to learn letters, plus provides a safe environment for kids to have fun "typing" on the keyboard!
Both an application and screen saver version of AlphaBaby are provided.
Version 1.7 fixes the problem where Expose and Spaces could still be activiated while running AlphaBaby. It also adds a few new modes and customization features. Version 1.7 continues to be a Leopard-only Universal Binary.
MACGEEK19 Brilliant. Simply put. It would be cool to integrate some of your own sounds instead of all those annoying Mac OS X beeps and dings. (Version 1.7)
/USR/BIN/PAUL Thank you very very very much for this wonderful little app. Under Leopard however, there are several shortcuts my 18 mo old found quickly, like Spaces and enabling certain universal access items, but the fix was simple, just disable all the items under "Keyboard Shortcuts" in "Keyboard & Mouse" and disable "Spaces" and viola! Thank you again. (Version 1.61)
DBONSER My 13 month found a way to exit it as well: ctrl-esc. I'm not sure what this is a shortcut for but it exits AlphaBaby every time.
Otherwise, she LOVES this program. She even likes to use the mouse and draw trails of stars all over the screen.
Thanks for a great program! (Version 1.61)

MULTIMAGO I use this since 2004 and my daughter still use this app. Before with shapes only ( + sound ) and now she play with our photos wiht my macbook.
The Application seems planned to follow the children in variuos ages in the best way.
ALEXANDER69 Thanks a lot for making AlphaBaby and for giving it for free...
It works without problems for me, I like the individual options (let it speek with own voice, etc.) and the only thing I would like to see added is an "interactive" option with simple mouse click "games".
But again, very use- and helpful as it is and a lot of fun for my baby. (Version 1.51)
RADDLE Hmm - looks interesting! I was gearing myself up to try to do something similar, but I think you may have saved me the time (and made it a good cooler than i would have).
The baby's currently in bed, so I can't give it the acid test, but will try that tomorrow and see how it pans out! (Version 1.51)
