Afloat is a small extender that adds
both useful window management commands and a little eye candy to most Mac applications. It adds always-on-top, transparency, Spaces window management and more.
AppleScript support. (See the release notes for more information.)
Minor bug fixes.
Contains PlugSuit 1.5.7, a recommended update.
Version 2.1:
Pin any window to the desktop from the Adjust Effects pane.
Resize Anywhere: hold down command and control and drag with the right mouse button (or with two fingers on the trackpad) to resize a window without having to reach for the bottom corner.
More Cocoa applications are now compatible with Afloat (including Xcode in 32-bit mode).
MACLUDWIG I have problems getting afloat to work in most applications. The Afloat option, for example, is available for iChat but not for any of the MsOffice applications. So, I am unclear what sort of applications Afloat can and cannot keep afloat. Or do I need change some preferences to extend that number of applications that can stay afloat. (Version 2.1.1)
LEMERLOT After trying Afloat I uninstalled it. Nice idea but not really working. Even Afloat's (nice) configuration window was not floating above the other windows so I had to "digg" for it.
When trying to pin Pathfinder to the desktop to avoid vanishing Pathfinder in Exposé - Pathfinder disappeared. When trying to show EventBox's Heads Up window in all spaces - Afloat failed. (Version 2.1.1)
DAVIDUSMUSICUS Wow, this is amazing. It didn't work so well on Tiger for my needs but the new Leopard version is simply fantastic. The mousepad "shortcuts" for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air make it even easier to use Afloat's functions. Thanks to the developer! (Version 2.0)
KALVINK Afloat 3 works with Leopard, period. Just delete your current SIMBL directory (in library/inputmanagers/), install SIMBL 0.82 (simple, two-click install), and install Afloat 3. (Version 1.0b4)
SOMASF415 i deleted my simb folder and try to install 0.8.2 and ran the installer and it says successfull install to the inputmanagers folder. However it is not there. Any help? (Version 1.0b4)
