ASTORGA   Hello, developers of insomniax. I've tried your software, because in my old PC I liked to close the lid and leave downloads active, as well as other internet software that refreshes constantly, and Mr. Jobs hasn't taken time as of yet for the groundbreaking research of this feature.

So I downloaded InsomniaX, which I thought was as a possible solution. Unfortunately (and I appreciate your effort), it still cut the internet in My Leppard-based Macbook (Mac OS X 10.5.3 - 9D34 - Kernel Version: Darwin 9.3.0), and so I went on to remove it.

... and I had the usual "absence of uninstall"problem: I made sure I disabled "sleepless mode" (or whatever), then quit the program. Then I removed the .app from the App folder, and looked for the kext, which was in the /InsomniaX folder in ~/Library/Application Support, I think. I moved the folder with the kext to a backup corner of my HD, as I did the app, and there I was.

Surprise, surprise: As I found out the next morning, whenever my computer goes (lid open) to sleep, as normal, prior-to-insomniax energy saver instructions tell him to, I cannot wake him up anymore by sliding my finger across the trackpad, or by just pressing any key!

I have to actually close the lid and open it again. It's not only wildly annoying, but also shortens the life of the lid mechanism.

Forgive me if I'm somewhat disappointed that the program wrote a kext on my mac-equivalent-"registry" by my merely double-clicking the app, without any prior warning. (It just gave me an "I did it" acknowledge screen.)

Please instruct me on how to revert this picture, since the mere removal of the folder and the kext didn't do any good. Since InsomniaX has likely written something on my "registry", I urgently need to know what to do in my specific case. I have no Terminal experience whatsoever and need your guidance.

Yours urgently,

A.

MIKEJONES  I have the same problem. I love the idea but the program does not work. I had no problems durring the first few months of use. What happened and how can I do a full uninstall. I will try an uninstaller such as appzapper.

ADAMLOGAN  I am having this issue as well. I have an early mac book pro model running with leopard 10.5, kernel panics happen when insomniax is launched. Sometimes I can launch the program without having a kernel panic, but then the features of the program do not work.

SEMAJA2.NET  This update to Snow Leopard comes with no promises of working operations, a recode is in progress from a 3rd party but it is on going.

Support from semaja2.net and future updates are unlikely but we do respond to some and will update in cases like this.

I would also like to remind everyone InsomniaX is passive and hence will not cause permanent damage a simple reboot of the system will remove all traces of Insomnia, until loaded again.

Please check the website for information on how to repair/uninstall InsomniaX

C3LSIUS  My Powerbook G4 started sleeping yesterday (possibly due to overheating problem) even though I was working on my computer and keeps on doing so after I wake it up. Today, it finally slept all the way through and I had to take out the battery to shut down and reboot.

I want to try downloading Insomniax for my OS 10.4.11. Does anyone know where I can download the previous version? I can't seem to find it online. I really really need it to try and see if it cures my laptop's sleeping problems. Thanks.

MCLOE  @ c3lsius: I had the same problems with my Powerbook; turned out to be a malfunctioning heat sensor. Check out this page: http://knit1spin1.wordpress.com/2007/11/14/narcoleptic-powerbook-cured/

It's really quite simple. My PB now works flawlessly again.

G35HOLDEM  I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and installed the new version of Insomniax. It seems to be working fine but the onld version used to give me an icon on the top status bar of my MacBook to let me know it was open and I was also able to adjust some settings from there. This new version does not give any indication that it is running or a way to turn it off. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

STIKE  I deleted the old version before installing this new one. Works without problems.

Try to remove/uninstall InsomniaX and re-install... this may be helpful.

TENGETA  I literally waited on installing Snow Leopard until a new version of InsomniaX was released, I can officially say I updated today and the new InsomniaX is working!

THANK YOU!!!!!! I still and won't ever understand what Apple's intention is on not letting people do this naturally with their OS. Thanks to people like these, it doesn't entirely matter.
