RDANEEL Looks like the program i've been looking for. Unfortunately it crashes my OSX10.5 MacPro. lets un update is on the way and i can trial it again

FLEC65 Media Indexer is a simple and easy to use catalog app with a small footprint and a clean interface. Price and feature fit my needs perfectly. Version 2.4 indexes fine on Leopard (10.5.1) but every time an index is selected, the name is highlighted automatically and the app crashes instantly. Also, Media Indexer won't remember window size and position, at each launch it reverse back to default. It would also be nice if we could change the size of the icons and text in the sidebar.

ALLKNIGHTACCESS Application crashes when adding items to index. Using Mac OS version 10.4.10 on Mac Pro.

ANDU works for me, I like that it's "Universal", created Index-file is searched by Spotlight (so you find files on unmounted Volumes, which I find very important), it's fast, takes little space to store Information (could maybe get an option to collect preview of media files)

AGLEE The developer site says "Try Media Indexer for free now! Click here to download Media Indexer PR2." Is this a beta of a commercial product? If so, I don't consider that the same as "free."

AGLEE I could have sworn it said "License: Free" on the MacUpdate page. That is not an accurate description of shareware, even if what you are downloading is a free try-before-you-buy. I see the MacUpdate page now says "License: Shareware", so either it was changed or I misread it the first time, in which case I apologize. Even so, at this moment, I can't find anything on the developer site about buying, only about trying. I don't like that kind of omission. Why wouldn't a shareware author say something about pricing? If the price is still being decided, why not say so? Why would I download an app if I don't know whether I'll want to pay the price for it? At least the developer's other product pages do mention price, but even so they seem to want to skirt the issue. They say "Register Now" instead of "Buy", and the price is mentioned way down in the corner. Charging money for software is nothing to be ashamed of, certainly not when the prices seem reasonable.

AGLEE P.S. I found an earlier entry in my NetNewsWire history, and it did say "Free" originally. I am glad the MacUpdate page was updated to accurately describe the software.

ALORSOFT About the price of this software. This is a pre-release version. It is free, really. You are NOT going to be asked for money, because, well, it is not 100% finished yet, and selling pre-release sofware is a bad habit :) If the users input is encouraging, the development will probably lead to the release of a shareware product, but don't worry, you will be warned by the time :) Hoping this clears the issues with this software... And don't forget to fill the survey - it's always important to get user input ! Alorsoft

AGLEE I can understand being in the kind of limbo state -- I've been there myself. I would have called it "Beta" on the MacUpdate page rather than "Shareware," but that's just me.
