DESCRIPTION
Finder Cut & Paste allows you to cut and paste files, something the Mac OS X Finder does not allow. These two AppleScripts can be used to add this functionality. Please note that you also need to install a third party application that allows you to conveniently run the scripts with a specific key combination.
Some of the programs that can be used for this purpose are:

Please note that the pasting is done to the topmost Finder window, not the active one. So if you want to paste the files to the desktop, you need to close all Finder windows.

SPLUNK23  I'm not saying this application is usless, but you can just drag the file as you normaly would, but before you let go of the mouse button, click the apple button, then let go of the mouse button while holding down the apple button on your keyboard. This will move the file, aka, "cut & paste".

GRUMPYTICO  Hmmm...yeah, that works fairly well when you have two finder Windows open, else you are going to be spring loading like hell which is utterly inefficient.

Try this: create a text file under ~/ and move it with your method to

    /Users/User2/Public/Drop Box/

With your method, it will take you no less than 10 seconds given that you do not make a mistake. Cut and paste will probably take half of that. :)

GRUMPYTICO  I still have not gotten it to work with the third party utils. I have tried Keyseer and the Pear one and the process seems to die as soon as I launch it (using a MacBookPro).

The scripts work well, and if you don't understand why we need a cut key on OS X and why it is one of the most requested features, then I really feel sorry for you.

It worked OK with Xkeys, but this does not cut and paste between volumes :S

DIGITAL.PARDOE  "Well, i'm sorry, but finder aleady allows you to copy and paste ! Why would i need anything else ?"

Well you might need to cut and paste, like the application is made for. Cut and paste can be more useful than copy, paste and trash original.

Plus it is useful to transfer to external volumes where dragging and dropping the item may not remove the original from it's location.

I think it needs better integration into Finder but good non the less.
