DESCRIPTION
Mail Unread Menu is a simple menubar application which can provide you with a quick and easy way to see how many unread email messages are in Apple's Mail. Unlike other menubar notification applications, Mail Unread Menu is actually a plugin for Mail.app, which means that the count is instantaneously updated whenever you recieve new email or change the status of a message.

SBCHAVEL  Oh well. It was a temporary fix that ceased to work. MUM regularly quits on opening.

SBCHAVEL  I have worked around MUM's "launch when Mail launches" setting. Using the great keyboard shortcut app iKey, I set up a shortcut so that when Mail launches, 3 seconds later MUM launches. This time delay has ended MUM's automatic quits. For those of you who use other shortcut apps (e.g. Spark), you may want to experiment with them. When MUM works, it has better features than all the other unread-mail-tracking apps.

SBCHAVEL  I set MUM to launch with Mail. I launch mail, MUM launches then quits immediately. Would love help. When it works, MUM is great.

SENC01A  This is definitely the WORST program I've ever tried for mac.

Not only messes up your Mail.app , but for example your computer will not be able to sign out, restart or shut down while the program is running because when shut down tries to kill Mail.app the notifier relaunches it and you get the famous message: Mail notifier app did not let you shut down the computer, please try again.

This app is HORRIBLE, do not download it or install it.

That is my recommendation.

ALBERTABSTRUS  Not only the app doesn't work but it totally prevents Mail from working if you uninstall it without getting rid of the bundle files that comes with it.

ANONYMOUS  Not sure what is going on but this update doesn't appear to work at all. The application is running, mail us running, unread mail is sitting in 2 folders but Mail Unread Menu doesn't tell me there is new mail? Running Tiger 10.4.11

JATYAS  I just installed this on my new MBP. While it installs fine, it doesn't seem to work? The previous version 2.6 worked fine after updating the following Mail settings:

$sudo defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles 1

$sudo defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 3

Am I missing something? I love this app. when it works! Any ideas?
