EDITOR NOTES
Posted at the developer's site, today, October 3, 2008: "After much soul-searching (it's not you, it's me), for personal reasons, Techspansion is closing its virtual doors.
The Support Forum and Support E-mail will be available for a while longer to take care of any remaining issues for you.
Thanks for all your support. It's been a fun ride."
DESCRIPTION
VisualHub bridges the gap between numerous complicated video formatting standards, and people that just want to get the job done - just what you would expect from the Mac.
If you're looking for something a little more flexible, VisualHub's up for that challenge too. An extensive Advanced panel lets you change all pre-set aspects of encoding...and then some.
Based on the popular, award-winning "iSquint" conversion software for iPods. If you've used iSquint, you already know how to use VisualHub. If you've never used iSquint, you won't have a lot of catching up to do anyway.
Features:
- Fast conversion from nearly every video format to iPod, PSP, TiVo, DV, DVD, AVI, MP4, WMV, MPEG and Flash.
- Convert any file in three steps. Click, drag, click.
- Fit up to 18 hours of video on one DVD. Play it in any standalone DVD player.
- Xgrid support. Use the power of every Mac on your network for batch encoding.
- QuickTime Pro or special plugins not required.
- DivX/XviD AVIs, all forms of MPEG video, and many other formats QuickTime struggles with are supported.
- Batch Processing of multiple files. Save in-place, or to a different folder.
- Very comprehensive Advanced panel to modify every aspect of encoding.
- Dynamic Preview - See results before beginning a long encode.
- Stitch multiple files together to combine videos.
- Highly detailed, informative Users Guide.
- Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel Macs.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.34a:
- Added a workaround for a bug in iPhone/iPod touch 2.0.x software that prevents certain files from being played after syncing.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. 10.4.3 or later recommended. 10.4.3-10.4.11 required for Xgrid encoding.

PAULNOJUSTPAUL Very sad to see Techspansion close its doors, VisualHub (and iSquint) are such fire & forget apps, and the developer has a really fun sense of humour. Thanks for all your great work, Tyler, all the best! (Version 1.34a)

HAVEMERCY I downloaded this, tried it, found it perfect for my needs, went back to purchase a license, and found it shut down. I've been looking ever since for a way to register the software. Any help? (Version 1.34a)

RAINBIRD What a shock, VisualHub, AudialHub and iSquint has been discontinued. Please consider selling these applications to another developer, or helping Macintosh users by releasing the source code for further development by the open source community. (Version 1.34a)

KAOSAD I too purchased this just a few weeks ago. It's unbelievable that not only did he quit so suddenly but to pull the downloads? Then he posts on his page "Oh well it was fun while it lasted" is just the attitude I needed to see, I've disputed the charge with my CC company and they removed the charge. I'm fed up with some of the Mac developer attitudes lately, he's not the first to pull a stunt like this. I suggest anyone purchasing this software in the last few weeks contact your CC company, $25 is $25. If he had handled it any other way or at least left the downloads in place it would be a different story. (Version 1.34a)

FRUITTY i am very sad that Techspansion had to discontinue their product. i really really reaaaaaaaaaally LOVED iSquint and VisualHub. It was a perfect programme for converting files of any kind and for any medium. It was fast and to 95% reliable. I never had any problems with it and i was at elast able to put all my shows onto my ipod without any fuss. i preciously kept all the dmg of both softwares, cos i really want to keep it. for those who didn't get the chance to play with this great app., an alternative for quick and reliable conversions is the app. called MPEG Streamclip. It is just as good! (Version 1.34a)

MAC OS X 4EVER I have been relying on this for a long time to convert all of my content to mp4 for my home media system. Now that it's gone, is there anything else as good? And don't say ffmpeg. I know it was a front end for that, but a damn good one. I need a GUI tool that convert multiple files to my specifications as this one did. I sure hope he at least releases it to SourceForge. Thanks while it lasted. (Version 1.34a)

MAC OS X 4EVER But it has stopped working. Sure it works as usual, but this means no more bug fixes or updates. I have had 2 recent AVI's that stopped at ½ way of being converted. I sure hope that if the author has given up that he releases the code to SourceForge for someone to take over. Anybody know of a comparable app? I have tried many and have found no good ones. JOSHP I make a lot of AVI to H.264 MP4 conversions for my AppleTV. The newest version of VisualHub has started to output files that are much shorter than the original file. It just seems to give up and move on to the next queued file. And it never reports an error. Furthermore, ffmpegX, which is based on the same technology, works fine with similar settings. JOSHP The forums suggested resetting the program (VisualHub-->Reset VisualHub) and re-registering, but it still doesn't like some files. I think it may be related to the Quicktime 7.5.5 update. Not sure. (Version 1.34a)

JAMUS One thing I can mention is that it SMOKES Flash Media Encoder when it comes encoding FLV files. Using two cloned PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz systems: VisualHub on Standard took 48 minutes for a 60 minute video. Flash Media Encoder on Medium is still encoding and it started over 4 hours ago... The quality of the shorter tests I did were very similar and I am not really sure the little bit of difference justifies that extra wait time. (Version 1.29a)

JAMUS Great app that beats some of the bigger guys to the punch (I am looking at you Sorenson and AutoDesk). I only wish it could encode video for the Nokia n800. (Version 1.26)
