COMPLETELYCONNECTED  I've had no trouble with SightSpeed on my Mac or my PC. It was simple to install and easy to use. I love the video mail and use it all of the time. I use video mail instead of e-mail with friends and family I don't get to see often. Also, I accidentally purchased more phone minutes that I intended to when I first downloaded the product and I got a response the next day and a refund. I'd recommend SightSpeed to Mac users.

ODYSSEUS  This was pretty impressive a year ago, but nowadays there's no reason to use this software, unless you need to leave video voicemail (Skype is currently the best for videoconferencing). As another reviewer commented, they're not Mac-savvy. To add insult to injury, the app now displays ads -- none of the other free videoconferencing clients does this!

COLT  Excellent software for free video chat. We have tried many other products for connecting our Intel iMac and macBook to Grandparents PC. We have tried iNeen aMSN and AOL (at the time Skype with video for Mac was not available). Sightspeed needs a stable connection but on a 300Kb upstream connection the results are excellent for cross platform video chat. I have found iChat to be better for Mac to Mac though.

MAC5  I have decided to pull the plug on SightSpeed after many, many hours of trying to make it function as described on their site. I emailed the developer on a number of occasions, asking for advice. They were very slow to repond, and really offered very little in the way of technical advice. They did not appear to be very Mac savvy.

All rather disappointing as the application appeared to have real potential, and supported video.

I'm using a G5 Mac with an iSight camera, and generally have few problems with either devices.

Perhaps some time in the near future we might get a version of SightSpeed that is Mac friendly, and works as advertised.

I use Skype & Gizmo without any of the problems that I had trying to use SightSpeed.

MAC5  Further to my review posted on 3/6/07. I have in that time requested support from the SightSpeed team on five different occasions. They have yet to reply to my many requests for support with a number of ongoing problems. Not what you might describe as " good customer support ". In todays world they very soon be overtaken by similiar companies who do care, and who deliver support to their customers. I did incidentally purchase $20.00 call out to make phone calls to friends on my contacts list. At this time I am still unable to even call my own home phone number from my Mac.. I also have friends using PC's who are having problems very similiar to my own.

MAC5  I have been running the latest version of 6.0 SightSpeed for about a week. Its very buggy, with lots of problems for the Mac. I have a friend who uses the same app on his PC with very few problems.

The video quality and sound quality have improved considerably on this version, but it needs quite a few bugs ironed out.

I bought $10.00 call out to make phone calls, and I'm unable to dial anyone - including my own home phone number..

Its allows you to add contacts, but you can't call them for some weird reason. I'm using it with an Apple iSight camera, and the image on screen is excellent.

I've tried turning off my firewall, but it hasn't helped at all. Hopefully the developer will respond to my email enquiries soon..

The previous version worked just fine on my Mac.

ERRORR  Bad. Tested it with 2 imacs, both with isight, which is listed as compatible. Video only shows its own camera view - myself! Whole lot of cryptical entries in the log but nothing useful. UI is horrible.

MAC5  I've been struggling along with this video/voice app for some time. When it works as stated, its very good.Unfortunately it often does not work as advertised by the developer. Its very slow to launch, and often throws up an error with reference to a firewall prohibiting it from functioning, at the receivers end or the users end.. In most cases it still manages to work, but not all of the time.

It needs a great deal of work to improve its functions before I would recommend it to any other than an experienced Mac user.

Its also got a lot of competition from similiar applications such as Gizmo and Skype. Once Gizmo supports video use, its going to be the one to beat.

SightSpeed must improve if its going to compete with similiar video/voice type applications. They also need to support free phone use for SightSpeed users to make it more attractive.

JEFF H.  Buggy, slow to launch, very choppy video (like watching a ViewMaster), drops connections, "can't connect due to network failures" (blah, blah!), doesn't recognize your connected cam half the time, FUGLY gui!

All-in-all I HIGHLY reccomend this app!

JB4  "Quality is not as good as iChat"

As I understand ichat, it does not allow audio/video conference with PC users. It will transmit video, but not both at the same time.

If this application does, it would be the only one I know of.
