DESCRIPTION
A52Codec is a CoreAudio component that can decode stereo and 5.1 surround sound from A52 and AC-3 audio. This type of audio is often found in DVD movies. Note: This is distributed with Perian 1.0. If you have installed Perian 1.0, there is no need to download this update; you already have it.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.7.6:
  • Allow the setting of dynamic range. Can make soft sounds louder.
  • AC3 passthrough. This is a hidden pref since it requires special conditions. It is best set by the application after it has completed such setup.
  • Fixed bug with badly packetized data
  • Fixed a case where the audio was being clipped
  • Fixed an incorrect assumption about sample rates.
  • Fixed an error with an incomplete sample at the end of a file
  • Added the ability to output Pro Logic II

    PUDDINGBOWL  I installed the XviD Codec Component 1.0 alpha, but no sound, and I still can't get audio after installing the A52. Any ideas?  (Version 1.7.6)

    LUO_MD  Can it let me play VIDEO_TS from DVD with sound/ audio? I have QTpro with mpeg2 component.  (Version 1.7.6)

    RUMPLESTILTSKIN  Without this codec, AC3 audio isn't playable in apps that rely upon QT. (Of course, VLC doesn't have an issue but that's because VLC is self-contained and has all of the requisite components and codecs built-in.)

    This codec plus Perian plus Flip4Mac's free component let virtually everything play in your QT apps.

    OBCD ADAM  Please, do what Apple did'nt,

    Allowing play ac3 in mpg, vob, and TS multiplexed in QuickTime. And this codec will become a must have…  (Version 1.7.6)
