DESCRIPTION

With Sofa Control you are able to control your applications with the remote control.

Out of the box Sofa Control supports more than 40 popular applications like VLC, Safari, PowerPoint, Democracy, NetNewsWire, Yojimbo and many more.

A spezialized Front Row inspired user interface enables the user to access application specific menus or select movies and documents. The virtual mouse makes it possible to access rarely used functions and the keyboard can be simulated to control confirmation dialogs as well. System level functionality like a sleep timer, changing the system volume and display settings are available in a customizable menu.

JEFF H.  "requirements" of this app should ABSOLUTELY say that the Apple Remote is the ONLY remote that this app supports.

There are a few others. I have the ATI Remote Wonder. I was very ready to buy this when I realized this only AFTER installing the app.

Talk about excluding!!!  (Version 2.2)

SCATTERBRAINE  Sofa Control always deactivates my global iTunes control, and I can't turn off Safari control.

How can I set Sofa Control up, so that the only thing I use is the menu (cause i wanna be able to turn off my computer with the remote). I don't want Sofa Control to interfere with anything else, just want to use the menu!  (Version 2.1.1)

EMET1  Sofa Control 2.0b

With this app, I have broken my own record for the shortest time from install to payment. It took less than 10 minutes (only because I read through the tutorial) before I paypaled (it's a word!) the $10.

Why I love this app:

1. It allows me to trigger the visualizer in iTunes AND change playlists while the visualizer is running. This is the one feature that will blow my friends' minds.

2. The detail. It is absolutely beautiful, with the kind of style you'd expect from a Mac app. It builds on the best of Front Row, but ramps it up with it's own unique elements. I love the pixellating fade out of the interface. Mies van der Rohe was right.

3. It's not a one-trick pony. It has a huge feature set and is scriptable (if I knew applescript, which I don't but that's why I pay people like this to do it for me).

4. The best apps combine and balance style and substance. (It's not what you say, folks, it's how you say it). It's hard to make a tutorial sexy, but this developer did it.

5. It's freakin' cheap! $10-for all the features you could possibly want (and some you may never use).

This app is the chocolate sprinkles on the ice cream sundae that is my MacBook Pro.  (Version 2.0b2)

ANTHONY SIGALAS  Sofa Control 2.0b offers unique new features over the previous version like Virtual Mouse, newly designed global menus, double pressing that offers new functionaity and a new more user friendly script maker to create your unique scripts. The ability to browse through files and open them on your disk drives gives sofa a clear edge over the rest of the Apple remote apps. Furthermore the developer is friendly, open to suggestions (he has incorporated everything I asked for) and quick to reply and solve any problems.

This beta also has a new script called Sofa Safari that enables you to browse with one apple remote click through sites that are reporting MWSF 2007 live keynote from Steve Jobs. So instant live coverage of 2007 keynote from your Sofa :)  (Version 2.0b1)
