DESCRIPTION
OmniDazzle is a set of fun and useful enhancements that help you highlight certain areas of your screen, create visual effects, and track the location of your mouse pointer.

6 Reasons You Should Try OmniDazzle:

  • You've got a presentation this week, and you want to hear both "oohs" AND "ahhs" from the audience.
  • Your documentation could use some really great screen shots.
  • You want to point out something on your screen, without actually pointing.
  • You need to focus on specific tasks, like that one window over there, without looking at everything else on your display.
  • You'd like to add some extra visual information to your screen, like arrows or boxes or...footprints.
  • You've been working really hard all week, and frankly, you'd like to goof off for a while.

If you've ever used your computer screen to do a presentation, capture screen shots, or as a point of reference while someone looks over your shoulder...you, my friend, could have used OmniDazzle. OmniDazzle is handy for those times when you need to call attention to something on your screen ("...as you can all see, line 37 in this spreadsheet lists my proposed new salary: eleventy hojillion dollars. Any questions?"), and even helps you find your lost cursor (hey, it happens — especially when you're navigating across the four-million-pixels-and-counting landscape of a 30" Cinema Display).

OmniDazzle is designed to be both playful and practical; you can use a plug-in to professionally emphasize a section of your screen, or you can turn your mouse movement into an area of focus that trails pixie dust (or waves, or a bullseye, or...) across your desktop. You can configure each plug-in to suit your own particular preferences: change colors, make objects bigger or smaller, or change the way you activate the OmniDazzle plug-in of your choice.

Call out your cursor or part of your screen real estate — or just add some visual bling to your display; either way, we think OmniDazzle's collection of tools and toys will put a smile on your face. Try a free demo here.

TANKKNIGHT  When i replaced my ATI x1900 cards (they kept over-heating and no longer under warranty) I got nvidia 7800 gt cards (not great gaming cards but they don't over-heat) I was able to use OmniDazzle. The kid in me loves this and I would rank this as 5 just because it is fun ... Oh, i paid when it first came out and still feel it was worth it. Unfortunately i've changed something on my G5 and when i have Safari and iTunes and Entourage running (i have other apps running too), my G5 will slow to a crawl with the beachball spinning. The G5 looks like it is frozen, but at about every 2 mins the clock will change and sometimes a mouse click works and it will switch to the app that got clicked. I did not spend a lot of time in diagnostic after figuring out generally what the issue is. It was fun, but since Omni is not spending any real development on this product going forward i just removed it. It was alot of fun for awhile so i don't have any regrets retiring it.

HEZMANA  I purchased this program and it is great fun. All the critic just are not interested in having a little fun with your desk top. It has also helped my 82 year old mother keep track of her pointer.

    Lighten up!

ISHAN3  $15 is two fine fast food meals. For that, this app is really useful when making presentations on a large screen-to highlight certain topics, etc. It's also a lot of fun. The interface is a bit different as well.

For the price of a couple of Big Mac meals at McDonald's, I bought this app.

GERBER  Very slick little toy/utility. Could be extremely useful for demos, training or screen recording to highlight important screen elements on-the-fly.

About half of the included effects are truly useful for "serious" purposes, and the rest are just wacky and fun. (And some of them may cause seizures!)

If you've already shelled out $50 or whatever for a screen recording utility and make some money doing training, or if you're a software designer who wants to do slick demos, $15 could well be worth it for this app.

If you just want to find your mouse, that price will be hard to swallow, and you're probably better off with one of the many less expensive solutions.

For a beta, the application is quite full featured and stable, with all the spit and polish that Omni is known for. I have had no crashes or other problems with this program. It does seem to eat up a few CPU cycles for some of the fancier effects (pixie dust, for example), but isn't too bad. The less graphically intense effects made little/no hit on performance.

Be sure to check the hardware requirements, as I quickly found this wouldn't work on my aging TiBook, although it works fine on my 1 ghz Powerbook.

SWGS1  Hi, if you suffer from Lost Cursor Syndrome, and you don't have $15 lying around to cure it, I feel you. Try Mousepose, it's free, and accomplishes the same goal. http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/16913

    MACPLANET2  O.k. Nice Idea.

Nice thing to release for a software company as a holiday gift. But charging 15 bucks for this?

Bugreport: The standard key combination Cmd-< does not work on German or French keyboards, since this combination is used for toggling windows.
