SURFSPIRIT  Definitely a great idea, but useless, it's full of bugs, so serious that make it impossible to use and trust. It deletes classes not selected, it has no integration with ical, so why bother to put the timetable info!?, I really like the concept, but it's not enough robust, it's more like a beta full of bugs than a final release! Ok it´s a free app, but anyway, it would be better if it was paid and works, than free and useless!

HENDO  There is a crucial bug where if you add an assignment from the toolbar it adds it to the top course. Not the selected course. Then if you try and change the course on the side it freezes schoolhouse. Hopefully this is s a quick fix!

KEDOS  It doesn't freeze for me, but it constantly jumps up to the top course any time you make a change. This is a big hassle, because I make several changes to each assignment (due date, kind, priority, title, etc).

Until the bug is fixed, this is my workaround: I make an assignment under my top course, regardless of what course it's supposed to go under. I make all the necessary changes for the assignment, then I change the course assignment in the right panel. It's not too bad if you create all of your assignments at once.

As for a feature request, I'd like some sort of spreadsheet view for my grades (like 1 column for each grade type). This is how I've been organizing my assignments in Numbers for the past year, and it's really convenient because I can see all of my grades and can easily enter new grades just to see how they might affect my overall grade.

KEDOS  even better, just edit your assignments from the Library folder instead of the specific class folder. easy temporary fix!

KEDOS  Logan Collins, the developer, has ruined his reputation as far as I'm concerned. This app seems to have been discontinued without any sort of notification. As far as I know, the last anyone has heard from him was on a blog post almost a year ago when he assured his users that SH3 was in the works. I hope this guy hasn't died and I'm talking trash about him.. but if he hasn't, he could at least come out and say he's not working on it anymore.

It's a shame, because this has been an incredibly useful app and he used to be so responsive.

KEDOS  Now that I've migrated all of my classes and grades to an extermely intricate worbook in Numbers, Schoolhouse is back. I don't know where this dev was for the past year and, really, he should have at least kept us posted or let us know that he was taking a hiatus. Still, it's really exciting to see this app back in development, even though I'm about to graduate and will have no use for it. Now, I hope we can see some big steps forward to sort of make up for lost time (integration with iCal, an iPhone app and\or some sort of way to remotely edit, etc.)

Glad to see you're back.

FREE_DEVELOPMENT  I used this program for about one semester, but I must take it out of my dock. The program is very well written, and looks great, but does not have all the features that it should. It works as a VERY simple word processing program, and file managing application. I am not using Schoolhouse anymore because I wish the note taker was i bit more advanced, such as the program Bean. As for the file organizer, I wish Schoolhouse would open files such as PDFs, DOCs, and others in the program itself, and not have to open other apps. Because of that, I am just going to take notes on Bean, ands organize the files in folders in Finder. If those changes are made I will be using this program again.

Thank you for the great work so far

ACMILANTIM  The application really needs to have Leopard support. It is some what functional when running in rosette, but still has a lot of errors. Please, really Schoolhouse 3 with Leopard support.

SUCKERPUNCH86  The program locks up when I create a new term for the first time, and it stops responding. Is there any way around it?

FREE_DEVELOPMENT  Great app, and I will post a full review later, but I am wondering what the program is trying to contact. Every time I open the program I get notified that it is trying to reach something called loganscollins.com.

$IR M.  I finally thought to check the dev's blog; not only is he working on a major 3.0 Leopard-friendly update, he has a quick fix for the Intel 10.5.2 beachballing:

"... if you Get Info on the Schoolhouse app in ... the Finder, and Select the Rosetta option (to force the app to run in PowerPC compatible mode), it works fine. This is a temporary solution for everyone who can’t access there [sic] stuff anymore."

SMACTRON  I am glad that version 3 is being worked on, but I would love a small update for the current version to remove the Intel-specific bug since running Schoolhouse in Rosetta brings my MacBook to a crawl whenever I use it.

JMROSSOL  I also found getting info and selecting the rosetta option fixes the issue. I have not noticed significant performance issues (1.83).

SEATTLEROBESON  This program was recommended to me my a friend but after downloading it I opened it and it froze. I deleted it, re-downloaded it from three other sources and it froze every time. It looks great but I can't use it because it freezes. I'd love to use it if you work out the bug.

TIM.DEHRING  I agree. Running 10.5.2, I am unable to create a new term. If I uncheck the box, I get to the main window but the app freezes everytime I try to create a new term. Deleting prefs or reinstalling the program do not work. Such a shame, I loved this app when I was using 10.4!

$IR M.  My 9-year-old son had high hopes for this, to help him stay organized. It worked perfectly in earlier tests under 10.5, but had broken by 10.5.2 in the same way others describe. I saw that a deprecated framework (by now probably removed) is being referenced, hence the freeze.

I advise patience: the author (who I do not know) makes this beautiful app available for free; plus, he's apparently a student himself, right in the thick of things at present. He's likely heard the screams though, and may already be working on a fix. But in the meantime, let's cut him slack and remain thankful for this gift, though it be (temporarily) unusable through no fault of his.

NOREBIRTH  Nice App. Tryed Task List first, but this app looks greater and seemed to be much professionel. But I'm realy afraid about all the bug reports! Found one with the resizing the panel on the left.

One collum in the listview for the Prof. Name would be great!

Hope the Update follows soon!
