DESCRIPTION
1Password is a password manager that uniquely brings you both security and convenience. It is the only program that provides anti-phishing protection and goes beyond password management by adding web form filling and automatic strong password generation. All your confidential information, including passwords, identities, and credit cards, is kept secure in one secure place using a highly encrypted keychain.

1Password fully supports most web browsers, including Safari, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, Firefox, Flock, Fluid, and NetNewsWire. All browser extensions share the data stored in the keychain which means you never need to manually copy your passwords between browsers or from the password manager to a browser ever again!

1Password has received numerous awards, including 4.5 mice from Macworld magazine, MacLife Editors pick, and was the Pick of Week on MacBreak Weekly by both Leo Laporte and Merlin Mann.

1Password also has a companion iPhone/iPod touch application available in iTunes App Store.

HATZEE  I am pretty new to the Mac world, at my old job I had a pc and used password safe so I was out of luck when I switched jobs and switched to a Mac. I asked a colleague what he would recommend and he pointed me right to 1password to give it a try - cautioning me that it wasn't free like password safe.

I downloaded the demo and have been very happy ever since. 1Password does so much more - effectively replacing my other favorite Windows app - Roboform. Now I have one program that does the job of three or more and does it just as well if not better.

This is one app you just have to try and see for yourself how truly useful it is.

LARRYMCJ  As obvious by the hundreds of 5-star reviews here (and everywhere else), 1Password is simply one of the most useful and best Mac apps on planet earth. I can't think of another application I use more, or another developer whose staff cares more for their app. It's simply amazing how much TLC they put into this and how much they care for, and listen to, their users. They deserve all the industry accolades and praise they get because they really do care about not only their product, but us, the users of 1Password.

THE JTIZZLE  regardless of frequent updates, I have never had this app crash on me over 3 years including beta builds. Rocks so much!

GLW  Very crazy, indeed.

A prudent developer should take a little time to test their product before rushing it to the public. Think how much bandwidth is wasted on download after download after download.

A bit of alpha testing would probably have caught all of these problems, and ONE bugfix could have been rolled out to address them all.

ROBOTANK  Actually, each release goes through several public betas along with whatever internal testing Agile does. If a bug or unintended consequence to an update slips through, I can't see any problem with them addressing it immediately. Take a look around the Agile forums--I've never seen a developer more concerned with the quality of its software and the satisfaction of its users.

DTEARE  Thanks for the feedback! While you're right that it is unorthodox for a company to release updates as frequently as we do. While 3 updates in 2 days is a lot there was a good reason behind it.

While we do have a very good beta program in effect, a rather annoying bug managed to make it into the 3.0.5 release and a second one was found in 3.0.6. They were not terrible bugs and not many users would experience them, but they were annoying nonetheless. We had each problem fixed in a few hours and could have easily shelved the fix for a release in 3 months from now, but why wait? Version numbers are free and there is an infinite number of them, so there is no need to worry about running out of them. Spending the time to build a new release is a small price to pay to make sure our customers are as happy as possible.

With that said, I understand that updating software is not everyone's idea of fun and it is why I highly recommend that you use 1Password's built-in automatic updater. By default it checks once a week and you can configure it to check even less frequently.

MAHOJAS  It would be nice to extend 1Password support to Google Chrome, if possible. Although Chrome may not suit everyone's taste, I have come to prefer it over Safari, which I still use from time to time if I need to use 1Password.

Are there any plans to include Chrome into the list of supported browsers?

LARRYMCJ  For now it's only a workaround, but it at least works with Chrome...check out the "Chrome" section of the Agile Web Solutions forums. I've been a 1Password user for years and I'm willing to be slightly inconvenienced as long as I can use it with Chrome.

WICKEDJV  I started to use 1password 2, I really liked it.

But the support is just bad! And so are the upgrading prices.

I upgraded to snow leopard (because leopard just wasn't that stable), so I got 64-bit Safari 4. Did the $40-costing 1password 2 support it? Nope, you had 2 options:

1. Use Safari in 32-bit after messing around with it, yeah let's slow my freshly bought Safari down!

2. Upgrade to 1password 3 and pay another $20, after having to pay $40 a few months ago!

So if they think I'm going to buy a new version each time I install a new Mac OS (yearly), they're wrong. $20/year for this kind of program is just ridiculous.

I wouldn't have a problem with a small fee for 64-bit Safari 4-support in 1password 2, or a upgrade-price for around $7-$12, but $20?

So, due to being too expensive, I would recommend a cheaper to upgrade alternative.

WICKEDJV  Ok, it's gotten worse.

Upgrading is now even $25 and that's after a temporarily discount, normal upgrading price $30! This just isn't a good way to treat existing customers.

CKINYC  I totally agree with the upgrade price is too much. Can I easily downgrade back to version 2?
