CORPSECORPS  This is NOT Mah Jongg (Ma Jiang)! This is a tile matching game sometimes called "Shang Hai".

Mah Jongg is a Chinese game kinda like poker.

BAD CYBORG  For years now I've held out for a real game of Mahjong, or better known as "Ma-Jiang" in China, where the game is supposed to be from.

Instead, every few month we get a new flavor, an exact copy if you will, of the Activision game from the Apple II days, Shanghai. Just like Egg Fu Yong, this dish does not relate to the actual Chinese people, but rather, is a complete concoction of the west. Although this page would have you believe differently. http://home.halden.net/vkp/vkp/origin.html

However, this in no way makes the Activision game Shanghai a variation, or even an offshoot of the actual game MaJiang/Mahjongg. The two just play like day and night. In fact for a Mac "Mahjongg" game to outstage all others, the programmer need not go further than to the source.

So here's the question: who's going to take the initiative?

BAD CYBORG  Btw this is how a faithful game of MaJiang is played. This clip is from Konami's "Majan yarouze! 2"

XMYSTIK  Thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the game. I've just uploaded a new version without the time restriction. It may take a few minutes to update the links though.

*½...

NURDLEY  Although the graphics are fuzzier than I had hoped for, this looked like a good Mahjong game and I had made up my mind to buy it after testing it. However, it quits abruptly after about 1 minute in the demo mode--that is infuriating and these people are not getting my money. There are plenty of Mahjong games out there, and I don't paying more when the seller is reasonable.
