STUGOTS  This does exactly what it needs to do, no more and no less, and another review noted. I'd used it all the time, except that I have a paid subscription, and I can't login to my account via the app.

The "account" pulldown is displayed, but it's not functional. I'm running SL.

MINIMAL  Unfortunately Pandora removed those features from their Mini Player. As a workaround you can login to Pandora through Safari and it will hold onto your login credentials in PandoraMan.

PETIEG  Does what it says and more... like pop up ad's in a browser. Two as a matter of fact... not worth it IMHO.

KREMELS  This minimal app has been around for quite a while, but it still works flawlessly under Leopard. It does exactly what it needs to do, no more no less.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  OK, but if we allowed users to edit their comments, then they could edit out whatever parts of their comments that may have become inconvenient sometime after posting them, say, when and if someone took issue with their post and responded to it, and then edit their original post and claim they never said (posted) any such thing. After years of experience with 'boards', I've seen just this sort of thing happen.

SHOCK J  I've seen forums/boards where the user has a fixed amount of time to update a post, say 15-30 minutes. After that it becomes locked. That seems like a good intermediate solution. If a person makes a typo they didn't see on the initial post, they can go back and fix it within the specified time frame. Locking it quickly afterwards prevents them from doing want you state, changing their comment based on a reply.

BILLYFUSTER  Version 1.0.12 fixes the problem reported below where ads loaded in the browser. I wrote to the developers late last week reporting this, and while they didn't acknowledge my e-mail, this new release shows they were listening! Thanks!

RICH88  When I wrote Pandora.com about the problem of PandoraMan opening browser pages upon almost any action, this is the reply I received:

" PandoraMan is an unauthorized, unsupported program. The only way to use Pandora without seeing our full range of ads-- while staying within our Terms of Use and still helping us keep Pandora a sustainable service-- is to subscribe to Pandora, and continue to visit http://www.pandora.com directly. [What you describe are bugs and glitches within that unsupported program.]"

CIAERVO  Something that has been happening just recently is that, every time I rate a song, my browser opens a new window and loads a page from pandora.com, what looks like something meant for the mini player. This is annoying, although not yet enough so that I would stop using PandoraMan over the site.

MIKELITE  same here. pandora must've changed their streaming somehow because even when I use it on their site it refuses to play continuously in the background unless I go back to (see the ads) player. Gotta pay the bills I guess.

CIAERVO  I noticed that minimizing the app drastically reduces how much CPU time it uses. That is, when it's in its full size, it uses about 10%, and when it's in the dock, it uses only ~3%. When the window is just hidden, but not in the Dock, it uses ~7%. Minimizing it with WindowShade X doesn't affect the percentage.

(This is on a 2Ghz DP Macbook Pro.)

STERILLIUM  Sorry, this is update really means two steps backwards...The size of the player is much too large, too many advertisements... :(

Growl notification doesn´t work too

MINIMAL  I know people are worried about the advertisements however these are required for Pandora to pay the large number of musicians they keep on staff. As long as I work on PandoraMan it will be functionally identical to the Pandora Mini Player.

If you don't like the Ads the way they are you should contact Pandora and tell them. As for the growl support, it is not functional because Pandora no longer provides the Artist and Track information due to stream rippers abusing that privilege. Unless they give me access to their API this feature will remain broken.

JOSHUA7  Without those ads they wouldn't have any way to license the ton of tunes they have. If you like it, support it by getting a subscription. $36 for a whole year is really worth it to keep the project going.

From the Pandora FAQ:

Pandora is available in two forms. Both versions have exactly the same features.

The first form is an advertising-supported version which is entirely free. Over time we'll be incorporating ads into this version of Pandora.

For those who want to steer clear of advertising, subscriptions are available in two different flavors:

ANNUAL: 12 months of unlimited use for $36

QUARTERLY: 3 months of unlimited use for $12
