DESCRIPTION
CleanApp... Why does Mac OS X need an Uninstaller?
Have you ever unsuccessfully tried to get rid of a program and all the files that came with it? Are logfiles, plists and caches cluttering folders and volumes on your Mac? Don't you ask yourself from time to time where the multiple gigabytes of hard disk space continuously vanish to? — Uninstall, archive, backup and analysis… CleanApp analyzes, archives and removes applications and on your Mac, complete with all relevant files.
Efficient.
Our brand-new version 3 of CleanApp now gained in power and efficiency: requiring less memory and CPU than the predecessor, CleanApp 3 reliably tracks the most complex installations and quickly presents the user with a comprehensive listing of all information gathered so far.
Compatible.
CleanApp's »Logging Service« is our custom-designed mechanism to meticulously record all acitivies of applications on your Mac. This component has been updated, leveraging Apple's recommended programming architecture. CleanApp 3 is now completely »Leopard«-compliant and runs smoothly on Mac OS X 10.5. To maintain backwards compatibility, we still fully support Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
Intuitive.
Our entirely new GUI design comprises much of the feedback and suggestions we received from our users. CleanApp 3 has become even easier to handle and configure thanks to this new graphical user interface.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.1.3: - Drag files on CleanApp in order to figure out, by which application these files have been created or modified (Launched logging service required)
- Files being modified by multiple applications are bearing a red checkbox and a sign showing concurrent dependencies
- New database maintenance: Speed up launching CleanApp's logging service. Additionally, database sizes are shrinked considerably. Logging is noticeably faster now
- Russion localization added
- Localization issues fixed
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

JOLLY_JOKER I tried all the Apps of this kind (AppCleaner, AppDelete, AppTrap, Amnesia, the "old" AppZapper, ecc) and I think CleanApp is "the best app of his genre"! but there are 2 things to improve: 1) when cleanapp scans an application, it reveals all the files that the app used, but, often, some of these files are preferences that Mac Os needs (like "addressbook.plist", ecc); so I always have to deselect some files. I think that in future the developer could improve the "protected system files" that should not appear when you scan to delete an app. 2)I think the developer should separate the "Preference Panes" menů in different submenů like "screensaver", "widget", "plug-in" and "preferences panes (only the .prefpane files)", so it will be more orderly. 5 stars (with the hope of these improvements...) GRYPHONENT Agree, those shared (?) preferences like AddressBook are annoying. I was expecting a fix to this problem long ago. (Version 3.1.2)

EGN The problem with what you report is that if you don't realize CleanApp screwed up "selecting" what it should it will delete tons of files necessary for the OS to work properly! These apps should be drag-and-drop-zap safe. Not everyone is going to use a magnifying glass to check on what it is about to delete. Others like Amnesia don't do this. In short, this app can really be dangerous to your systems health. (Version 3.1.2)

ROBOTANK For whatever reason, CleanApp tries to delete a bunch of Apple preference files every time I delete an app. I've tried clearing its database, but it still does this every time. Currently unusable. (Version 3.0.6)

UNQ1 Wonderful App..does what it says..BUT! does NOT allow my computer to go into sleep mode. This is due to the "logging mechanism"(narrowed it down to this). So for those of us who are energy conscious and preventing un-necessary wear and tear on un-attended computers, this is un-acceptable! Once fixed...this deserves the FULL 5 stars. (Version 3.0.2)

THEBRIX2008 I take back - in part - two previous comments on beta versions; the CPU problems have been solved, and I have been running version 3 final for three weeks with no problems. There have also been some welcome improvements in the user interface; for example, the (useless) Old Files option - and any other option - may be switched off, and a couple of user interface features that slowed down operation (animations, and calculating package sizes) may also be switched off. However, I have come across two bugs and one issue. The bugs are that empty entries for application logs cannot be deleted, and that Growl tickets are not found. The issue, which has always been there and which, I suspect, is an artefact of the CleanApp design, is that in general too many files are marked for delete. Two Address Book lock files are almost always marked but, more seriously, all downloaded files from a Web browser are marked, with an obvious risk. There is a workaround - exclude ~/Downloads from the discovery and deletion - but the workaround is not obvious. Perhaps the Preferences option should be auto-populated with ~/Downloads and ~/Desktop? Overall, the author appears to have cracked the problems which led me to stop using CleanApp for some time, and has made it much more pleasant to use as well. (Version 3.0.2)

ANTHONY123 This release is really great! Although it is sort of heavy on the processor side, it is a very good app, and it's logging service is fantastic! (Version 3.0.1)

JEEPEE Great release, it now even doesn't need to be installed before you install another app. It looks which files are being changed/created by what app in the background, that's quite different from other AppZapper-like-uninstallers, which most of the time are Spotlight with another UI. Ofcourse it needs more CPU than In my case the CPU-problems are completely solved. (Version 3.0.1)

DIVEMATERZA I have a feeling the developer is taking the end users for imbeciles. Since β1 there was a problem with excessive disk activity and CPU hogging. This is not fixed! this is a major bug! (Version 3.0.1)
