DESCRIPTION
Proxi is a free utility from Griffin Technology for Mac OS X. It allows the assignment of automated events called "tasks" to a variety of "triggers" such as hotkeys, email, iTunes, RSS feeds, as well as hardware available from Griffin such as the PowerMate, AirClick or radio SHARK. These tasks can do such things as display messages on the computer screen, play a sound, write to a file, execute an AppleScript, control iTunes or iChat.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.5.4
  • Fixed an incompatibility with Mail introduced with the Safari 4 beta.

Version 1.5.2

ASMEURER  I downloaded this because I wanted to replace Quicksilver's triggers to play/pause iTunes, but it doesn't let me set Control-Space as a keyboard action.

TEKL  Would be nice to have Mouse triggers, to let me go back in a browser with the side button of the mighty mouse.

PETER DA SILVA  There doesn't seem to be any monitor for arbitrary USB control inputs (like, extra keyboard keys). There's a standard API for enumerating these so it should be possible for Proxi to support any USB keyboard, mouse, or game controller.

MUSUBANA  This application is perfect. Everyone should try it out.

Proxi has allowed me to automate my system the way _I_ want. Most other system additions give me the feeling of _me_ being directed instead.

Because of Proxi I’ve deleted Automator and several small one-trick ponies, thus saving a lot of HD space.

Keep working on this, developers!

PETER DA SILVA  This kind of framework should be built in to Mac OS X, so that instead of having every application using their own GUI to reconfigure their special hotkeys, hot screen regions, and so on... they just register with an input manager and leave it that manager's Preferences panel to tweak them.

HANGON  Doesn't work with powermate.

I'm able to control the powermate via a trigger.

but the powermate as a trigger doesn't work

JAMES CHURCHMAN  Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!

it lets me do custom popups of what ever info i like - eg showing who the new email iv just received came from or the itunes tune iv just jumped to (with artwork)

but it does far more than that. Any of many actions in the os you can attach any of the pre built actions to- amazing!!!

this is instantly in my top apps (along with quicksilver and safari stand)
