DESCRIPTION
Blocks is a plugin for RapidWeaver. It allows you to place blocks of text, graphics, and even raw HTML onto your page wherever you like. Drag blocks around, resize them, and even overlap content. All in a plugin that is as easy to use as RapidWeaver itself.

Blocks 3.0 brings great ways to reuse your own content (library blocks), your own layout (master pages), your own pages (library pages), and even content from other page types (Page Blocks). What more can we do? We can make everything smarter. Smart Blocks allow you to add special tags to your code that can connect to the properties of your blocks or even add GUI controls to your layout.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.2.2:
  • Feature: RapidWeaver 4.2.2 Contact Forms now work as Page Blocks.
  • Bug Fix: Library no longer hangs while attempting to unzip aliased library items.
  • Bug Fix: Blocks no longer thows exceptions if PlusKit is used to import content into Stacks and PlusKit rendering is enabled in Edit mode.
  • Improvement: Moved an API call to the main thread for improved thread safety.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later, RapidWeaver 4 (v4.2.1 for auto updating).

DENNY CRANE  This is an amazing plugin for RapidWeaver! A real “must have.” It allows you to move your content items around by dragging and dropping... and even a little push here, and slide there. Try the demo, I bet within a day you’ll buy it!

PAOLO TRAMANNONI  That's fantastic. It's like transforming RapidWeaver into a different, more powerful application, where you can freely "paint" your page. With the same ease of use of RapidWeaver. A must have.

MILESLONG  Blocks is the best plugin for Rapidweaver hands down. I can't imagine designing an entire website without using it at least for some of the pages.

Makes a great product, RW, even better. Great developer as well, all of his products are first rate.

If you are going to start using RW then this is your first plugin to buy.

MD07  This + Rapidweaver is a really solid product. It's not perfect, but neither are any of the alternatives (maybe your hand-coded CSS/XHTML isn't perfect either!) I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs to build a creative site extremely fast. Even if you're just using the created site as a feature rich mockup for clients, the price and ease of use really can't be beat. Kudos to the dev.

DAN.TINIANOW  I invite Blocks 3 users to visit my new website, www.blockshead.com to share blocks and master pages for the new Blocks 3 library feature. Nothing to download yet, but now accepting file submissions. Thanks!

YOURHEAD  RapidWeaver is not designed to do WYSIWYG -- and neither is Blocks. Blocks only controls the content area of your RapidWeaver layout.

I DOES allow you to do thing that other pure WYSIWYG software does not. You can add HTML code, PHP, Flash and javascript very easily.

Those benefits (or RapidWeaver as a whole) come at the cost of pure WYSIWYG.

I'm sorry someone had trouble with Internet Explorer -- but I believe his experience is probably not the norm.

I use Blocks for many pages on my own web site and it's tested regularly to work well on IE 6 and 7, Firefox, Comino, Opera, and of course, Safari.

Give it a test yourself and find out!

MACLOVER1.1  I'm back... I'll just tell anyone to be extremely careful before planning to use this... way too many issues with Explorer on PC... so when it is all peachy and sweet on Safari for example.. it is a completely different story with Explorer (PC as it is dead on MAc so we cannot even test it.. nope I ain't got a hybrid machine yet) and we all know 95% of internet users on the planet use Safari... NOT... so think twice ! I'm trashing the plugin.. . I'^ve lloked way stupid in the face of a cleint and this promising plugin has unfortunately brought me trouble and has wasted much of my time.. so I would not recommend it to anyone who needs its pages to fucntion on Explorer on PC..emenaing: everyone basically.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Everyone using a PC is using IE? No one uses Firefox? I'm curious, how does this thing behave with Firefox on PC?

ORION MK. V  Not perfect -- wysiwyg isn't quite 100% -- but it's still a great plug-in that gives the rather rigid structure of RapidWeaver some flexibility. Haven't decided whether to drop cash yet for it, but the demo doesn't suck.

ORION MK. V  Commenting on my own review, as I was reviewing one version old. v2.3.1 is awesome and the browse option on the rollovers actually works -- could get the previous version to work.
