BackityMac is a backup program that helps you simply the process of backing up your
User folder. Examples of files that it backs up include:
Apple Mail Files
MS Entourage Files
iCal Calendars
Address Book database
Safari, Firefox, Camino bookmarks
iPhoto and iTunes Libraries
iWeb website files
Home Documents folder
Full home folder backup.
The backing up process writes the data to a read-only disk image. Then you can select this disk image within
BackityMac and it functions as an auto-restore of your files. This is useful for users interested in cloning
their home directory and replace it on another Mac untouched.
TOM ALLEN I have a Mac Mini Intel and a MacBook. I downloaded and paid for the software. Originall it would not restore a previous backup. I reported it to the author and at first he was helpful. However when it did not get fixed, he quit responding to my emails. I downloaded the new version and it gets the applescript 1708 error. (Version 1.6.3)
SCOTT MCCOLLOM I am running a new 24" iMac with Leopard installed.
I just downloaded the new release, but I am still getting the 1708 AppleScript error upon launching the program. I was reading that this release addressed that, but I guess it did not fix the problem.
JEFF H. The developer seems to have worked everything out, and has a winner!
I wanted this app to work in these most recent versions because of the ease and efficiency of earlier versions. But it wasn't, at least not until this version!
Great job! Does what it says it'll do! (Version 1.6)
ME2 This software worked fine during the first few versions but now I can't get it to make a disk image.
I know we can't place a suffix of the version number on the end of the title and I don't, but, why is this continuing to 'not work.' The website shows no support folder. Any advice is appreciated. (Version 1.5.1.10)
IVANOVITCH It stalls at backing up an image at 15.99GB... (and indicates 1% complete, on a 'second pass' of the update progress bar). Makes it useless for home directory backup to iPod disk ,for example (what I am trying to do - back to manual directory copy) (Version 1.4.4)
IVANOVITCH Works for minor backups of individual files, but chokes on home folder backup (20GB or more), and required force-quit after command+period failed to cancel stalled process of a backup to an iPod disk. A number of applescript errors appear from time to time, not making me confident that a backup imagefile can be created. Yet to try restore function. (Version 1.4.4)
