DESCRIPTION
ScanTango... Forget those wimpy flatbed scanners and slooooow scan times. Welcome to a new scanning reality on the Macintosh. Use rugged, high speed scanners engineered specifically to make conversion of paper to PDF a breeze. With one touch of a button, scan even complex double-sided documents and distribute them automatically using E-mail, Print, Fax, Save to Disk, and FTP. Watch your document problems go bye-bye at the rate of seconds per page.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.5.5:
  • Contains a workaround for Apple's Snow Leopard bug where previously saved 1-bit Black and White TIFF images are automatically (and erroneously) converted to 8-bit grayscale images when read from disk into memory. ScanTango detects when this has happened and automatically restores the images to 1-bit, allowing files to be updated and resaved using the original specified file format. If this were not done, the system would be forced to use the much less efficient LZW or lossy JPEG compression. Note that this action is only taken for single-bit images read from disk and is not needed for scanned images.
  • Added support for the DocketPORT 467 and 487.
  • All DocketPORT users will need to recalibrate their scanners when first using this new version. A blank sheet of printing or typing paper works fine.

ZXPT  We use the Tier 0 version of ScanTango for our Strobe XP100 scanners. ( I also have VueScan and a flatbed but use it just for thick material like books, otherwise why bother...) Even with this cheep second hand manual feed scanner ScanTango simply rocks! It's easy to set resolution presets, scan, rearrange the order, erase, crop and redact pages. The app is also a great tool for editing existing PDF docs using the same built-in features. My wife doesn't like cumbersome scanning apps but loves this one because it's a very uncomplicated and gets the job done fast without frustration.

MACNERD1984  No OCR - For $99 I'd expect a lot more than this. Forget it.

UMIJIN  I can't quite see what this program brings that isn't already there in the software bundled with Fujitsu's Mac versions of the Scansnap.

Plus, it doesn't even do OCR.
