DESCRIPTION
ShelfMenu is a small dockless application living in the system menu bar (but can be hidden if you define a shortcut). It is useful to store every kind of information, like images, URLs, texts, file paths, lists; basically it can store everything you can copy in the clipboard. The information is organized in folders, which you can add, delete, rename and move (preserving their content). You have two methods for storing an information in ShelfMenu: - Adding a text note; this brings up a very simple text editor, which lets you jot down a note;
- Adding the last object copied in the Clipboard.
The objects are stored in a file; even if you quit the application, you will find everything as you left it the next time you launch ShelfMenu. If you want to use an object, you can simply copy it on the clipboard again, so you can paste it everywhere else.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.3:
- It is now possible to invoke the application via a user definable shortcut
- The application can be completely hidden
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

LORD YO Good app, it reminds me of iclip, which my trial ran out ages ago and i've been looking for an alternative for ages, i think i've found it in shelf menu. Yes, it could have some improvements, There could be warnings before you empty the drawers, you could also have visable draws there to highlight things then just drag and drop. Otherwise, great little app. (Version 1.3)

KOBALT well we can't fault the dev for trying! as soon as potential issues are raised (see posts below) he spends a sleepless night and fixes the app! great little soft and free to boot - who am i to complain :) (Version 1.2)

HEAVY_SHOWER I'd very much like to keep ShelfMenu in my menu bar except that I can't stand the icon -- trivial perhaps, but consider that its visibility is 100% permanent. I'd like to see a choice for Apple's minimalist style of icons that are solid black/white, thick lines and/or fills -- the grey representing an altered state. I think I'll try my hand at going into the MenuIcon.gif file, if you won't mind. (Version 1.1)

CEMACSOFT Well, to be honest, I do not like it either... It is the first thing I found which was not too bad, and I'm definitely not an artist. I'll try to find something better, promise, but I first wanted to include some more functionalities. Anyway, if you want to change the icon just change the file MenuIcon.gif in the Resource folder of the bundle. One thing only: the file must have the same name and be a gif. And if you have a good one and want to send it over, I'd be glad to replace the awful gray thing! (Version 1.1)

THE VALRUS Good little app, but the interface needs work. The "configure drawers" window should allow drag-and-drop of items instead of the awkward up and down buttons, and there's no reason for the "close" button beneath the text box. Also, the "empty drawer" menu item should confirm when selected, as it's potentially destructive. Finally, having to go into another menu to copy an item to the clipboard is kind of unwieldy; it seems to me that selecting an item should copy it. Finally, the "copied object" used for images is practically useless if there's more than an item or two in the menu. (Version 1.0)

CEMACSOFT Thanks for this feedback. Your comment are very interesting and I'll try to release a new version addressing all of them next week. (Version 1.0)
