Stox is a powerful tool for the new or experienced investor. Stox cuts through the noise to give you concise, timely information to help you manage your stock portfolio in a simple, single window format.

Research - Look before you leap. Let Stox present timely news to help separate strong companies from weak ones and be alerted of current world events that may affect their future. With the click of a mouse, get detailed financial status, chart past performance and even establish hypothetical stock purchases in the past.

Tracking - Stay informed on your terms. Keep tabs on the performance of your existing portfolios and new stocks you are considering with detailed financial information and head-to-head performance charting, constantly updating throughout the day. Combine stocks into a number of portfolios and group them any way that makes sense to you. Snapshot and detailed reports are just a click away.

Analysis - Dig deeper. Whether you are scrutinizing an individual stock or your whole portfolio, leverage detailed technical charts and market opinions to analyze the security of your holdings. Model your tax implications before making a sale by balancing all transactions in your portfolio, including buy, sell, call, put, dividends, fees, splits and more. Review your activity for any time span sorted with any criteria to get running totals on cost basis, per share basis and gain on sales.

One Window, Three Views - Forget cluttered browser windows and complex multi-windowed applications.

Reports in a hurry - Need a P&L with accurate capital gain information? No problem. Want to see a comprehensive transaction report for one or more portfolios combined? Do it now!

Portfolio Control - Import existing portfolios or make new custom portfolios and watch lists; monitor them individually or all at the same time. You're in control. All the information you obtain is then password secured and stored locally on your computer.

It's a small world - Are you an international player? Get localized news from every major world market. Automatically updated exchange rates give you a handle on your foreign holdings.

Don't be alarmed - That sound you hear is the skyrocketing price of your stock! Know when to buy and when to sell by setting ever-watchful alarms that trigger on price targets set in your portfolios.

Amazing Ticker - Tired of waiting to see your favorite stock's most recent trade scroll across the ticker? Configure the Stox ticker to show only the stocks you own. A.DEMAID  Of this type of program (not all-singing & -dancing) this is the only one that has worked well and consistently for me - I am based in Europe.

I had an early problem with the software not accepting the .L for the FTSE exchange but that has not recurred.

The choice of different data sources solves a lot of the problems that smaller company stocks can pose for US-centric programs.

Obviously there are features that one would like to see added, but this is not software for professional traders and it is competing with browser based services.

ANDREAS WEISS  Software does not hold what it promises. It uses the yahoo servers to update the share prices. This functionality is pretty much useless as it does not work properly (I tried it for European stocks) and the price comes not through).

The functionality looks great but this bug makes the program useless. Esp. when you want to use such a program a longer time (used MS Money since 1995) such bugs need to be fixed short term ... this does not happen here.

Emails to the customer support were unresponded.

For me a lesson that I will always try programs before buying it.

Can't recommend Stox 1.2 !!!

Cheers,

Andreas

TFLINT  On my PowerMac, STOX freezes every time I try to edit a transaction. No mouse or keyboard for five minutes or so.

ZYTHEM  I almost hesitate giving it "5s" on everything here because I know there is room to grow, but if I was impressed with v1, I'm blown away by v1.1. Very Mac-like, very snappy ever on a PowerPC running 10.5, and these guys seem to care about what they are doing. They will listen to what you have to say and do their best to make this product even better. I gave my thoughts on what was needed from v1 before I bought it, then in no time v1.1 came out and my nitpicks were taken care of. I bought it and couldn't be happier.

FLOYD BLOOM  Mac users have very few choices for technical analysis of stocks, and "Stox" is a very welcome, and very affordable Mac offering that can display many of the more widely used analysis tools. I've just begun to use it, but I'm impressed with the gathering of data, and the number of display options. I'm hoping for trend line drawing and point & figure displays in the next version.

JETEYE  I have been looking for a portfolio management program to run on a Mac for a long time. Stox is really close to what I need. The program will automatically download stock data, keeps a list of stocks to watch in the portfolio even when I am not currently holding a position in that stock, allows me to enter my trades, keeps track of portfolio performance and plots that performance.

The things that are missing from this version 1.0 release that I think should be added as JoeSoft develops the product are: Stock screening and ranking by risk to reward ratio, automatic portfolio building and optimization and automatic portfolio rebalancing.

Nice start guys. Keep it coming.

BEMSON  There is nothing about this software that will appeal to Mac users. This company pretty took it's cue from Windoze applications of it's ilk.

Mind you, this doesn't take away from it as a valuable stock tracking tool, but it's nothing to shout about - or deserving of five stars....

Still waiting for a developer who thinks different about the mass of horribly boring and redundant stock apps out there.

Functionality wise - I give this sucker a 2. It's import tool couldn't handle anything I sent it, and was terribly obscure.

That's all I can tell you... I chucked it after a few attempts.

We built this product with input from many, many people, and many of them really love how the product turned out. However, every product out there can stand to be improved!

REVOLUTION  I've just tried out this little app and I'm very impressed! I am trading in Aussie shares and it looks to be working great... My only trouble so far is that I cannot change the "Data Source" from United States to Australia... if somebody else could shed light on how I can do that, it would be greatly appreciated.

WZRDJR  I like this program a lot. It's clean and very mac-like. Easy to use too. There is a slight hiccup when selecting a stock as that one, which for example might be in the middle of the window, will jump up to the top of the window. That's annoying and should be easy to fix. Otherwise, I'd like to see folder support for the stock groups, and if ever possible, support for automatically downloading the IBD top 100 lists from investors.com.
