CURBSIDECOLUMN A lot of people who have a need for decent web sites but don't have a budget for them usually end up with something that simply doesn't carry much "Google Juice." Funny that since our friends with the funny name are essentially the holy grail of search. Most simple-to-use web design programs seem to ignore this fact and make poorly coded sites that make real web designers cringe. Not Sandvox from Karelia Software. This affordable and easy-to-use program takes full advantage of the Mac interface while also incorporating all the search engine optimization functionality you need. While there isn't everything you'd find in something like Dream Weaver, this program is also logical and makes sense. I own Dream Weaver too but more often than not I'm using Sandvox. It's simple, effective and lets me get the job done without navigating Adobe's byzantine menu and palate system. Yuck. Here are some of the sites I've done in Sandvox for your reference: http://www.uniquelodging.com http://www.featherbedrailroad.com http://www.northshorebusinessassociation.com (Version 1.6.3)

(Version 1.6.1)

DOCJK I purchased it recently and was quickly handling web-page design like a pro. Tight link-up to their support crew. Flawless installation on my MacBook Pro 17" 2.16 Ghz, 2 GB Ram, OS 10.5.6, swift and smooth! All the automatic features in publishing, MobileMe etc. worked as they were supposed to. A very easy to use tool, perfect for newbies, but offers also something to advanced users. But then I discovered that I didn't really need it anyway due to some particular feature I wasn't considering. Unfortunately I did not make use of the demo version. But without any problem the friendly and accommodating crew revoked the transaction and immediately send the money back. Great! Thanks a lot! (Version 1.5.4)

RY.MA I think, Sandvox is unsuitable for larger projects. It becomes very slow and has many crashes. (Version 1.1.1)

JEFF MARSH Sandvox is perfect for my business website. This is the first website I have ever built. The templates are easy to use and I did not feel that I was limited by choice of design. It allows me to upload, very quickly, any changes needed, which in photography is often. The Sandvox design means prospective clients on the slowest internet connection can view my site quickly. This translates to fewer people moving on because my site takes too long to load (as my old "professionally" built site did). In today's very competitive business climate, this speed is essential. I would definitely recommend Sandvox as the choice of any small business owner managing their own website, or those contemplating building their first site. (Version 1.6.5)

LIZ BRADLEY I love this product. I manage a website for a volunteer group and we used Sandvox to create a website where we promote our charitable events and membership. I have never designed a website before but Sandvox made it simple and very satisfying! Our website is easy to navigate, add photos to, publish changes to and you can even try on different looks. I am so glad I found Sandvox - it has made our website look fantastic and the reaction of our visitors has been terrific. (Version 1.6.5)

NORRIS I found Sandvox to be simple to use and productive of good results, judging from the many favourable comments I've received from visitors to my new site. Its limitations are not visible in the finished product, which looks thoroughly professional. However, users who want more control over things like image size and placement may find the necessity to conform to a limited template frustrating. For those of us who simply want a quick and clean introduction to website design, I'd say that it's about as good as it could be. (Version 1.6.5)

KALLI MATSUHASHI I've built 3 websites now using Sandvox, and it's been easy to do. The designs available are great; for my first site I used on of the free templates that come with the software, and purchased templates for the other 2. Have been very impressed with ease of use as well as technical support. I had trouble initially getting the site published (my first site), and tech support responded very quickly, even cheerfully in helping me figure things out. Worth every penny! (Version 1.6.3)
