DESCRIPTION
AppZapper allows you to confidently uninstall virtually any application as easily as it was installed -- just drag and drop. Drag one or more unwanted apps onto AppZapper and watch as it finds all the extra files and lets you delete them with a single click. A slick safety system remembers which apps you want to keep safe, and the log tracks all the files you've zapped. Put simply, AppZapper is the uninstaller Apple forgot.

  • AppZapper now prompts for authentication when not using an admin Account
  • AppZapper now handles localized app names much better
  • Minor tweaks and improvements
  • Minor cosmetic tweak

SPRINGHEELMAC  Works great for me. I'm using 10.5.6 on a PowerPC 1.42 GHz eMac. Using it in conjunction with AppTrap (found here for free) is awesome. Finds EVERYTHING. I always do a Spotlight check after, but more often then naught, I'm good to go.

SITTING IN THE SUN  Had email back from developer, working on a fix, seems this effects some machines and not others.

No timescale for fix given.

JEEPEE  Before you buy this, be aware that this program has not been updated for 2 years! It's easy to say: "Upgrades for life" then...

Don't buy this, there are other programs that are free or more worth buying!

RALPHMWHITE3  Does anyone know what to do when AppZapper (1.8) sticks in "Processing" when you press the Genie button?

COOPFLY  why hasn't this app been updated for 2 years. They can add a lot of features that the other deleting applications have.

GRYPHONENT  The answer is that they gave away so many copies for free and participated in so many promotiones that it became a joke. People, including myself, had 5+ licenses (though only one serial was actually sent per email). With updates "free for life," the developer has razed the market and moved on. Why update an app if there's no money in it anymore? I've moved on to CleanApp, which is much more advanced than AppZapper.

EASER  I tried this program as well as AppCleaner, AppDelete, and Forklift. I tried all on a program called DiskOrder. Not one of them found the folder in Library/Application support called "LikeMac" which clearly has a folder in it titled "Disk Order." I'll stick to deleting these things manually.

EVOLVE75  I have the same experience as PumpkinWhite below. I tried uninstalling a program with both AppZapper (got as part of the MH bundle) and Forklift. Forklift consistently finds more application files than AZ. Ended up uninstalling AppZapper (by using Forklift of course).

PUMPKINWHITE  I just received appzapper as part of a bundle. The first thing i did is compare it with the 'Delete App' functionality of forklift. In each and every application i tried, forklift caught more files on my system than appzapper. Sometimes appzapper would miss out a file in 'receipts' folder or sometimes in 'caches' folder and sometimes in both. Considering appzapper is a program dedicated to this functionality, I am pretty surprised by this. If all application deleters out there were missing the same files then I wouldn't have been so harsh on appzapper. But the fact that another application catches extra files every time is inexcusable.

SYHARRIS  AppZapper is not totally reliable. As I have found after using AppZapper for a while, now, it will NOT always remove every last file of all apps.

After using AppZapper, I've always rechecked with EasyFind (available here at MacUpdate) to see if all files of my deleted app have, in fact, been removed, and have found that a fair amount of time they have not.

But, then, there are no application deleting apps currently available, that I can find, that are totally reliable.

Your best bet would be to just use EasyFind to delete your applications and their files.

It takes a bit longer than using AppZapper but EasyFind IS about as good as it gets for locating/deleting files. Yes, it's that good....and it's free, too.

XYZ043  Program hasn't been updated in a year. It's currently not compatible with Leopard and there is no word from the developer when and if there'll ever be a new version.

Take your $$$ elsewhere.
