DESCRIPTION

SWF & FLV Player (formerly SWF Movie Player) is the only stand-alone application for Mac OS that is able to playback SWF and FLV files with plenty of bonus features. It provides handy movie controls, that let you play, rewind, fast-forward and playback movie files frame-by-frame. Flash animators and FLV movie creators often hide things in single frames. Think you saw something out of the corner of your eye? You probably did. Drag along the playback bar to go frame-by-frame to find out.

SWF & FLV Player will browse any web addresses to discover and save all SWF files it uses. If any SWF file requires external resources (it may open and play other SWF or FLV files, load images, etc) SWF & FLV Player will inform you about it and offer to download all the external resources required as well.

Create and manage playlists - play FLV and SWF files randomly or one by one, repeat one item or the whole playlist, save playlists so you can load your favorite movie collection later. With our SWF & FLV Player you can zoom in the movie to see the specific part of it, fit to current window size or restore to original one. Moreover, you can set playback quality (useful for low-end or heavy-loaded systems), manage Flash security policy, check SWF/FLV file's comprehensive information and lots more.

SWF & FLV Player PRO delivers more functionality to the users: ability to save currently played Flash movie no matter whether it is loaded from web or locally; switch to full-screen viewing mode; capture the current frame of the movie and produce series of screenshots out of your favorite FLV or SWF movie.

Created with the simplicity and resource efficiency in mind, SWF & FLV Player PRO provides absolute control of the playback and lets you manage SWF and FLV movies at your fingertips. Packed with plenty of options, it provides clean and intuitive interface which will suite even the most refined taste.

ZZ9908  I was interested in the Pro version because I wanted to download and save flash video from C-Span, but this program won't do it. "Bad Program ID" error message every time. And since you have to buy the Pro version in order to try the save feature, I'm out $20. The refund policy is a joke.

FORMICA  $20? There are freeware options that have more functionality than this!

GRYFFIN  ROB_GENDREAU: Name me one other player that can step through SWFs one frame at a time. I can't.

There are plenty of tools for yanking Flash video off a web page. But for a Flash developer, for analyzing your animation frame by frame, this thing is a godsend.

ROB_GENDREAU  Hard to tell if this really works; the save function is diabled and the free version doesn't do much that other free apps don't already do.

I've posted a question on eltima's web forum, and emailed tech support, but didn't get a response. I wanted to know if in a particular situation I could save some flash animations from a website; the only swf file is a player that accesses other resources that I was interested in downloading. Unfortunately the developers don't respond.

GRYFFIN  Everybody's doing that now. The first three numbers are the traditional version number (3.8.17), the last (four digit) number is the build number. Ain't no big thang.

SILVERDEMON  I've been looking for a program like this to can play certain swf files like games, etc.

This is a very useful application, but it lacks one feature. Rather, it does have this feature but it works in a weird way: the volume slider doesn't change the output of the program, but rather the main system volume. Which, in most cases, probably doesn't matter, but in my case I really needed it to work in another way.

SPRINGHEELMAC  Gannet-I believe Perian has that and other codecs, which is on this site. Between that and Flip4Mac, Quicktime can be made to handle most anything. This program does sound like it has nice features though.

MIKURO  Perian can play FLVs, but not SWF animations. QuickTime has built-in support for some SWFs, but not most recent ones. It seems like Apple has not updated that since QuickTime 5 or 6. Also, you need to jump through some hoops just to get QuickTime Player to let you TRY to open SWFs.

GANNET  QuickTime *was* able to play swf files up to version 5 (Flash is up to version 10 now). As of QuickTime 7.3.1 Flash support has been completely locked out though.

GANNET  Would it be possible to make an SWF QuickTime component? It would be great to be able to watch SWF files in Front Row.

ZO219  "You can Watch .... but you cannot Save."

(Yeah, I know simpler ways of saving ... just don't like it when developers do that.)
