MACDICKY  I am trying to download Front Row ENABLER 1.5 from the URL: andrewescobar.com as suggested by MacUpdate but his page cannot be had.

How do I go about downloading this FRONT ROW ENABLER 1.5 for my Mac laptop 10.4X?

Anyone out there who can help me?? Does anyone have a copy available to me?

SPRINGHEELMAC  Wait for the spinning wheel to stop (believe it or not it WILL boot, takes about 10 minutes). Go do something else and come back. Once booted, everything will be INCREDIBLY slow. Go download 'Applejack' from here no matter what. Install and run. After that try Apple's Disk Utility' or 'DiskWarrior'. Problem should be fixed.

SPRINGHEELMAC  Ok, I installed and enabled, and it appeared to work. However, on restarting, I can't find Front Row ANYWHERE. I followed the instructions to the letter. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? BTW, I have a 1.42 Ghz eMac.

LIBBY2007  Includes Front Row????

Wow, I'm not sure who's more gutsy: you, for packaging and redistributing Apple software, or MU, for letting you post it here.

OSXRULZ  From his website it looks like you still have to download Front Row from Apple. From what I can determine, Enabler now has the option to *install* Front Row from within Enabler instead of running Enabler and having it patch the Front Row installer so you can install etc.

JEFF H.  got it to install on my G5, but no matter what I do can't get it to install on my G4. Re-did the 10.4.8 update, intall F.R., go to enable. and it says "can't enable..."

Shame, the G4 is the one I really need it on.

IMPROV, PASTENCE  The Disk Image is not corrupt. The developer has added another extension on the the download that will make you're computer see it as an archive. Just remove the extra extension (so .dmg is the only extension) and then try opening it.

HANSPEETERS  I had the same experience as DLFTNAM and Fighting Cat. A reinstall of Mac OS solved the problem. Try Front Row 1.2. See instructions here below:

STEP 1. Download JacksonBrown's patched Front Row STW. rapidshare.de/files/6669514/Front_Row__k_.zip.html.His brilliant patching work makes Front Row run under 10.4.2 without having the iMac's remote present. There are three files inside this .ZIP - Readme.txt you may now ignore, as it is out of date. ?- Front Row.app copy to the Applications folder - BezelServices.framework copy to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ At this point you will need to reboot your computer.

STEP 2. Open Script Editor.app (located in Applications/AppleScript) and paste in the following code.

tell application "System Events"

tell application "Front Row" to activate

key code 53 using {command down}

end tell

Once you have done this, save it as an application named openfrontrow.app in your applications folder.

STEP 3. Now go to macupdate and download the program named Xkeys. It is freeware. Once you have the file downloaded, install it and then open it up. Inside the program, configure your F8 key to run your openfrontrow.app file you created in STEP2.

STEP 4. Now go into System Preferences. In the Accounts preference tab set up front row.app (the one you downloaded, NOT to be confused with openfrontrow.app that you created in STEP2) to be a login item.

STEP 5. Reboot your computer. When it turns back on, press the F8 key and hopefully you will be experiencing Front Row! Pressing F8 again (or a lot of other keys on the keyboard) will close Front Row.

JEFF H.  What I ended up doing was reinstalling, but "preserve users" under the "options" when you go to intall.

This worked fine (Front Row and the enabler) with 10.4.5 and before, but not after.

The "preserve/intstall" at least sort of got things working in a somewhat painless way...I had a couple of hours getting things perfect after the reinstall, however.

Much luck!
