DSHORE95  Not to worry "Not A Fool", I had the same dilemma but when I opened FrontRow. However, when I opened FrontRow S.W. version indicated 2.1.7 even though the version in my Applications folder only shows version 1.0 using 'get info'. It updates properly but makes no other indication that it IS updated. Apple works in mysterious ways. Just use it and go with the flow.

LEGAL EAGLE  I am rather confused. I have downloaded and installed this update, but when I use the "Get Info" option on my "Front Row" application it shows as Version 1.0 and only 376Kb in size - created 2 June 2008. Can someone tell me just what is going on ? The application works, but I have no way of knowing whether Version 2.1.7 has in fact been installed or not. Pretty peculiar !! I am using an iMac G5 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running OSX version 10.5.6

TOMIS  Still doesn't understand the concept of network shares. iTunes has no problem loading its library from a file server on my LAN. This means I can have one iTunes library across all machines in my house. So what's Front Row's problem?

The switch from being a front-end to iTunes broke much functionality...

MONKEYJUNKEY  It would be too kind of apple, if they let us turn off the annoying twist of the song title every 30 seconds. Come on. This isn't disneyland. I'd like to use front row more, but this really keeps me away from it. It looks ridiculous.

TOMIS  I believe the point is to prevent screen burn-in should one wish to use it on a TV which is prone to such problems. Is it really that big a distraction?

JPW  I second the motion to give us the option to turn this Disneyesque flip-out; and yes, it is that much of a distraction!

****.

ORGANIK  I cannot read the names of MANY of my files because the font size is just too big. Many PC home theater apps have the file name scroll if it is too large to be displayed.

I can't play my media if I don't know what I'm playing!

Media Central also suffers from this problem.

Any solutions out there?

S P L A T !  I install with total success Apple Front Row 1.3 using Andrew Escobar's "Front Row Enabler" (http://andrewescobar.com/frontrow)... simply renaming 1.3 version at 1.22!

MANY THANX Andrew!!!

SOREN0  All I did with the new version was use Software Update on a MacBook Pro to download the updated version and copy the Front Row application from Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/Front Row to a flash drive and replace the 1.2.2 version that I had on my iMac G5, restarted and I was up and running with version 1.3.

JOOLS912  Excellent! Finally Apple have fixed the 'movie trailer not responding' errors.

Also, it still works with Andrew Escobars Front Row Enabler. Just download this update and install using Pacifist if you don't have built-in IR.

(And for those who wonder what the point of Front Row is without an Apple Remote - there are many other remotes you can use with Front Row. I use my Sony Ericsson K750 phone via Bluetooth for instance.)

SCHMELDING  So, does this mean I can run it on my regular ol' not-Front-Row-included Mac?
