ANADART This is a fantastic program for viewing and cataloging digital comics, folders of images and even pdf. Though it's main function is as a great .cbr/.cbz reader. I've been using it for years now and have no major complaints. A very useful tool to have for any comic book fan. (Version 1.3B839)

MABOROSHI In previous versions I used to be able to drop a cbr file right onto a playlist and it would import it and then add that to that playlist. Sometimes the files I'm dragging over have already been imported, but it would still be nice to be able to manually drop the files into the playlist, as I have my comics sorted by story on DVDs, and it would be infinitely easier to just drop that folder in there. ORAJET Easily the best "all in one" Mac viewer I've used for digital comics yet. The organizational features & tagging are very welcome, and the viewing options have actually encouraged me to waste plenty of time browsing files I'd forgotten I had. I've had crashing issues, but mostly with files that have crashed every browser available to me (until repaired via Adobe Acrobat). My only requests for future builds would be to make it even more "iTunes-like", and allow the option to centralize files via copying, and to have tag fixes alter the actual file name/ save altered data for other viewers (rather than only for CBL). An excellent example of this type of "easy file fixup" is the "FontExplorer X" font management system from Linotype. To be sure though, these *are* minor asides and I'm more than happy to have spent the money supporting the creators here. (Version 1.3B810)

MR MIDNIGHT This app has had completely undeserved low ratings for a while now, all based on a few previous "reviews" which all generally boiled down to that there are Freeware alternatives available, and that it was supposedly too expensive. Well, I disagree. I tried a bunch of alternatives before I purchased CBL, and they were slow, crash-prone and did not even have half the features of this app. CBL is literally the iTunes for downloadable comics, it is being regularly updated, and the developer is responsive to any remarks and questions. And the price is absolutely adequate - I suspect the reason people complain about the price may be due to the fact they are used to download comics for free, and expect their app to be free as well. With CBL you get exactly what you pay for, and you can test it thoroughly - with only a small watermark in one corner of the screen - before buying. I wish the big comic companies would jump on the internet band wagon and offer their comics in a HQ digital form (they do flash files now, which at least is a start...), and then CBL would be a perfect app for managing and viewing those files. The ONLY complaint I have about CBL is - its name. "ComicBookLover" -- ouch! (Version 1.3B810)

AIKOUSHA I don't know about other people, but Jomic, and Comical are very slow on my system... and FFView hasn't worked for years, and gets worse on my system every update (displaying black pages, scrambled or only partial pages, and doing so inconsistently, poorly functioning control interface, frequent crashes...). This was the best of every comic viewer in their current stages, and this worked the fastest. It still has a few things to iron out, including a more flexible control interface (if it could work like FFView's control system is supposed to work...). Personally, if I get a 300GB drive for documents to capture, store, and create to, this would be an excellent addition for that purpose when it comes-of-age. (Version 1.3 build 690)

GRYPHONENT Nice... but too expensive for what it does. Half the price and were talking. (Version 1.2(653))

ALBABE Too costly for what it is. http://comical.sourceforge.net/ It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that ComicBookLover has, but it's FREE and works great for me!!! FYI: The .cbr and .cbz files are just .rar (cbR) and .zip (cbZ) files that anyone can easily read by decompressing them into .jpg. http://www.sketchyorigins.com/comics/showthread.php?t=424 http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/45.html (Version 1.2(648))

MARIUS_TH This is one incredible piece of software, though it still has some bugs to fix (Version 1.2(612))

OHSNAP This really is much better and faster than the first released version. Better than FFView by far. (Version 1.0b11)

DCE A significant improvement over FFView - I really like the thumbnails and the "iTunes" interface of the application. But I'm having some trouble with a few .cbr files and it crashed in my first few minutes of using it (not a big deal for beta software). The price, however, doesn't seem appropriate. While I'm sure much effort went into this, it's not sufficiently superior to free tools to warrant $25. Of course, the same could be said of free book cataloging tools - that hasn't stopped many people from investing in Delicious Library. $10 or $15 seems like it'd be more reasonable. Of course, if they work out the bugs, I might well be willing to spend a bit more. (Version 1.0b)
