The Mac version also includes interface enhancements that you'd expect of an application built for Mac OS X:

  • Film-strip photo picker to make editing photos even easier.
  • Transparent overlays so you know exactly which photos and videos have uploaded.
  • iPhoto-style transparencies during drag-and-drop.

Version 2 Known Issues:
  • The first time you launch the application, the program may appear behind other applications.
  • The red-eye algorithm in the client doesn't match the algorithm on the service. This means that the red-eye correction that you see in the client may not look exactly like what you see when you view the image on the web.
  • The album icons in the album listing don't indicate if the album is shared or private.
  • You cannot configure Mobile Image Import in the client.
  • There aren't any Section indicators in the filmstrip in Image Detail mode.
  • Clicking away from a caption in the Get Info dialog doesn't automatically save the caption.
  • In Image Detail mode, the crop rectangle may go off the screen. The rectangle may also jump around when size to the maximize size of the image.
  • Rotated images may not be magnified properly.
  • The ability to remove selected featured images is disabled under Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5).
  • Shift-Tab doesn't move backwards in Turbo Caption mode

AKROBAT  I'm really quite impressed with this.

Was looking for a good alternative to MobileMe iPhoto sharing and this is as good as it gets. Simple to use application that is free and integrates seamlessly with your online account.

What I like about Phanfare is that it's one of the few decent looking photo sharing sites that doesn't have ads plastered all over the place. A nice selection of themes also.

Importing photos from iPhoto is a breeze and there's even an iPhone app which does the same thing and uploads photos from the phone. All in all a good application.
