Color Schemes helps you put together up to 28 Color Schemes, each Color Scheme with up to three colors. For example, the Demo Color Scheme shows how three colors could work well together. You can drag and drop (Control key held down) color from any window to any other window. The data is saved automatically when you quit and reloaded automatically when you relaunch. This software is freeware. Version 5.1.0 is Universal Binary.

Version 5.1.1 improves compatibility with Leopard.

ANONYMOUS This is cool, but could use another 4 smaller solor swatch boxes underneather the larger ones for other accent colors.

For instance, when designing web pages, to play with text color choices, etc.

VASILIS Nice program. Very handy to find matching colours. The only thing that needs to be done: I have to be able to type in the Hex-field. Apart from that, very good.

FORREST SNYDER I've been using Color Schemes for a couple of weeks and have been very pleased with the application. It makes "playing" with colors fun! It is very easy to select a main color using the RGB sliders, decimal values, or a color picker (any of the built-in pickers seem to work). Color Schemes does all the hard work of finding complimentary colors in "automatic" mode. Then, by clicking on the color picker button, one can tweak the complimentary colors. Finally, I'd like to say that the developer, Paul Young, has been extremely responsive to suggestions.

ZIPPY No place for Stuffit? It's free, runs on Mac and Windows, and in my experience has worked flawlessly since I started using it about 15 years ago.

I'd like to see future versions of this handy litle app. be able to reference Pantone colors & paint/vinyl manufacturer's color charts....would be worth paying for IMHO.

ANONYMOUS I think he just means in principle.

Stuffit works fine but it IS proprietary and not really needed for distributing files.

Doesn't get me all worked up or anything but I do tend to agree with his sentiment.

ANONYMOUS The app is good, and for most long-time macheads, Stuffit isn't an issue -- we've used it for years and it the defacto standard on the classic Mac OS. That said, I do agree that a OS X dmg/zip is more universal for Mac OS X user, since Zip/DMG tools are free. Personally, I still use stuffit daily.

GETWITHIT Stuffit has been a fairly constant source of trouble since about version 4.5. Each new update brings new problems.

Apple does not ship OS X with Stuffit anymore, there's a reason. Time to dump Stuffit and use only .zip, .dmg, anything but Stuffit.

We should not continue to reward Allume (makers of Stuffit) for their shabbiness.

PAUL YOUNG Unfortunately, colors look different on different displays and printers. Because of this, it is best that you match the colors you like to swatches or equivalent and then buy that paint or match the swatch to cloth/furniture/etc.

Including Pantone colors or manufacturer colors could only disappoint the user because the end product would be slightly different from the color in your scheme.

ANONYMOUS Great program but would you consider switching to zipped disk images for distribution?

StuffIt is a closed proprietary format and should have no place on a modern Mac OS X desktop.
