DESCRIPTION
coconutIdentityCard is just a small app that reads out where and when your Mac and your iPod were built by Apple. Just plug in your iPod while the app is running and it will show you the information about your iPod instantly. Because it's UniversalBinary, it will run also on the upcoming Intel-Based-Macs.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.4: coconutIdentityCard is able to check your serials against internet-databases of stolen Apple products. (A negative result is no guarantee that it isn't stolen) Currently coconutIdentityCard checks the database of www.powermax.com - if you know other databases, please send me an email with a link to the database - I will try to add it soon.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

GEORGE PAPHITIS  Recognizes my iPod Photo but not my iPod Video 5.0g. If I manually type in the Serial it gives me the date of manufacture of the iPod video but not where it was made.

SANDY_J  Doesn't give a place of manufacture for my new iMac, but does give an approximate build date. By the way, the download is just 73.4KB, not 73.4MB as it currently shows.

DLWORMWOOD  Just a small tip to US users: the date reported is in European date order: day, month, year.

For the longest time I thought my machine was made during an interval between April and October, when I really was during the first week of March.

IVANOVITCH  'European'? You probably mean 'non-Amercian' - there is no other place on earth than USA which uses the strange and illogical mmddyyyy format.

MACUSR  To find where your shuffle was built, it's embossed in the USB protection cap. Need to get the right reflection of light to see it, and it's small, but it's there

ANONYMOUS  Oh, you can find out, but you'll have to boot into Mac OS 9, and use the MAP control panel.

-Then type in "Middle of Nowhere", and you'll see where it was built. :)

ANDREW  Displays my Mac's creation date and place just fine. Doesn't read my iPod when I connect it, however. Does it need to be plugged directly into the internal FireWire port [G4 TiBook and 3G iPod]?

ANONYMOUS  Works as advertised. I like the little touch of adding the flag for the country of origin. Nice.

And Jim W - you must feel like an idiot. DD-MM-YY, you know? Even a 2 year old can figure that one out.

ANONYMOUS  Read how badly you tried bashing the developer of this application again and then I'll play my little violin for you. Not so fun when the tables are turned around, IS IT?!?!
