ARTHUR ENGLER  Well, the old Apple alert sounds (pre-OSX) were much better. I had hi hopes for this download, but I was disappointed.

That said, I then browsed around MU and found these:

Hooray for the MacOS Classic Sound Pack!

LARRY DEBOLT  I have been using Macs since the days of System 6.0. Plain and simple--these sounds are C-R-A-P. Sometimes you have to call 'em as you see 'em. Don't waste your time on this.

CRAZY APE  I agree, these sounds are retarded. 8-bit and the ends are chopy, like the sound was cut off befour it was finished playing.

And to comment on the other review, there are ways to install things without letting the installer forcing you to install it in certon locations. For example.. control click (right click) on the installer/show package contents/ find an "arcive" file/ then dubble click that file, and bam, you have the files on your computer for you to put where ever you want to put them, compleatly bypassing the installer!

ANONYMOUS  Please don't use the word "retarded". It's insulting to people with disabilities. That kind of language went out with the stone age.

ANONYMOUS  These noises reek of the grave.

Remember Soundtracker? Remember you could get floppies loaded with hundreds of samples? These alerts sound like aiff conversions of those awful 8-bit samples; and nothing like the best of 'em either.

Good job it's free. Good job there's an uninstaller, but shame it's only for Tigger.

ANONYMOUS  Why are these sounds installed into /System/Library/Sounds instead of /Library/Sounds or better yet, ~/Library/Sounds ?

The guideline for OS X development is that NOBODY should be installing anything in /System except Apple.

I STRONGLY suggest that nobody install these sounds until the developer changes the installer or posts them as sound files (allowing the user to decide where to put them).

MU ADMIN  I downloaded (using Safari 2.0.1) this software before it was posted here. It downloaded and mounted just fine. It still downloads and mounts just fine.

If you have a problem, it is local to your machine.

Please, no more posts "I can't mount this".

MU ADMIN  By the way, we here at MacUpdate can do nothing to change the actual file the developer has posted.

Posting here to the effect that 'the disk image is corrupted' is of little or no use. One should contact the developer in such matters.
