DESCRIPTION
Transmission has been built from the ground up to be a lightweight yet powerful BitTorrent client. Its simple, intuitive interface is designed to integrate tightly with whatever computing environment you choose to use. Transmission strikes a balance between providing useful functionality without feature bloat. Furthermore, it is free for anyone to use or modify. Transmission is open source (MIT license).

These days, bandwidth is a precious commodity. Transmission allows you to ration this commodity efficiently. You might want to queue your torrents for maximum performance. Or throttle their speed during peak periods. Transmission easily lets you do both, and thus only works its hardest when you want it to.

Support for Growl notifications and dock badging keep you updated with what's going on so you can get back to doing more important things.

If you are interested in helping out the Transmission project in any way, we encourage you to head over to our development page. The current developers welcome anybody who is interested in implementing new features, documentation, or translations.

DEMORAY  I really like Transmission and I WISH I could use it. It's stable, has good features, and a great price. However it has one big drawback: it wastes lots of time downloading HUGE amounts of Failed DL data, (Failed DL is data that failed it's checksum test and needs to be downloaded again). Sometimes the amount of Failed Data is larger than the amount of successful data, which means at least TWICE the download time.

I've tried every Mac Torrent client available and Transmission is the only client I've found to have this problem. I've talked to several users about this, and it looks like it might be a problem with the way Transmission handles DIAL-UP internet access. It seems to work better with broadband. But this problem occurs consistently with any file, any server, any peers, etc.

So if you use Transmission, check out how much failed data you're downloading:

Click on the "i" in the upper right corner to open the Torrent Inspector - Then click the second tab (Activity) - Look at the "Failed DL" info and see if you're wasting download time. The amount should be almost nothing.

I hope they address this issue soon so I can use this otherwise excellent app.  (Version 1.11)

DRAGONFIST  I love transmission, it's small, fast and has a clear feature set. What I do not get is that version 0.82 is still the fastest and most stable version I can find. I try the new releases again and again but none of them offers me a real benefit, hope that will change ;-)  (Version 1.11)
