CURIOSITY_BLUE  I disagree with the previous poster. Art is subjective, interpretation is up to the viewer. I enjoy using the fractal images as a theme integrated into other artwork, rather than the raw images.

There are many fractal generators out there for Windows or Linux, but Mac native programs are hard to find. This program fills that niche and is remarkably easy to use without a PhD in math. There may be more powerful generators out there, but this one is all the casual user/artist will ever need. Check out the gallery on the website to find your beauty.

TIM27  i have never understood the fascination with fractal images. they don't create anything beautiful to look at and nothing you would ever want to use in artwork or advertising or video games. what is the point of them?

CASTLE ROSE  Are you serious? That's like saying all atonal music is not pretty so why would any one write it. In fact some of the greatest composers have made quite beautiful atonal music: Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Prokofiev, Alexander Scriabin, and Béla Bartók to name a few. More to the point I have seen some extraordinarily beautiful fractal images. Maybe it's just not your taste.

TIM27  fractal images within nature are beautiful to observe. snowflakes, leaf patterns, cloud formations, even mountain ranges. but mathematically-generated fractals offer about as much beauty to look at as a pontiac aztec.

HARRISTYPE  You obviously have never heard of a screensaver called Fracture then. I have created some very beautiful desktop backgrounds with this program. Give me your email address and I'll send you an image I created with Fracture. It's not just the run-of-the-mill Julia and Mandelbrot types.

SYHARRIS  Computer or mathematically created fractals can be incredibly, breathtakingly beautiful.

As a graphic artist, I've used some mind blowing fractal images in my work, many resulting from the above mentioned screen saver "Fracture".

Fractals rock!!!

TIM27  I just checked out Fracture. I guess to each his own, cuz the images I see still look incredibly boring and devoid of human emotion to me. Also, the screensaver appears in blocks rather than being drawn in real time on screen or being animated. Really makes it seem cold and lifeless.
