DESCRIPTION
iRatchet is an Invoicing and Billing app. iRatchet is written in Objective-C/Cocoa and uses CoreData, spotlight, .mac, AddressBook and iCal integration.
iRatchet provides most of the features and functionality common to most billing and Invoicing apps (tracking hourly and fixed entries, multiple clients/projects, timers, pdf output, emailing of invoices, etc.), while excelling in workflow, mileage tracking, web integration and ease of use.
This version has support for high precision calculations, storing country codes/currency codes on a per client basis, and a host of enhancements designed to assist those who have customers in various countries.

DENNY DOUBLEPLUS MARKETING Since iRatchet has been updated, I do hope an update for MacFreelance (the exact same app, just a different name) comes out right away as well. There are some bugs with it - one in particular is when currencies are entered - they have to be entered up to 3 times for the decimal place to go in the correct place. *sigh*

STEAD Version 1.87 quits unexpectedly at lauch on my 1.67Hz PowerBook G4 running 10.5.6. It worked fine before I updated. Any way I can revert back to the previous version?

CLEARNIGHT I am looking for software to manage sales of actual product rather than billable time and am having trouble importing charges into projects, which makes this software basically useless to me. I would like to create files with product names, reference codes and prices that are then easily imported into a project. I need to build invoices for each client that bill only for product ordered rather for any services rendered and I haven't figured out how to do that easily so I am going to look elsewhere. I am, however, open to the idea that I am an idiot that has somehow missed these functions.

JMORGAN I almost bought this today but no currency features for non-US kept me from it. i tried ibiz and timenet and both were pretty good. i got timenet and like it a lot since ibiz was a little slower and buggy

Actually, iRatchet has fairly robust support for multi-currency. You can assign a distinct currency to use for each client. iRatchet also supports web service rate conversion; checking web services for the current rate.

WIZZARD1 Not too sure where the negative to the developer and the applications has come from? I have went back and read all the reviews but I can find nothing that would evoke such negativity. I have worked with the developer in the past and have been a beta tester of iRachet. "Mister Rogers" has been nothing but professional in all the dealings that I have been part of. He has accepted my critiques and feature request with grace and expediency. Anytime there has been an issue, the issue is fixed and a new build is released. I use this software and it is hands above anything else out there for the price. I have the other software from the other vendors and they work well but I like the interface and the easy nature that iRatchet handles my business needs. I firmly believe in reviews no matter how critical in nature but one must remember software is like art and it is one person's or one company's interpretation of a need - business or otherwise and it should be respected. I am not too sure what expectations are being demanded but try the software and if it does not meet your needs than try and use somthing else; do not trash the developer because it is not what you want or like to see. Please keep any nasty or slamming comments to yourself unless you can thoroughly justify your comments through fact and not fiction or personal conviction. It is time to act like an adult, respond like an adult, and comment like an adult - not like the whiny kids that may come across in the reviews. I pose a challenge to all you whiny folks - develope something better and go through all the processes necessary to put it out there like the develope has - maybe then the shoe will be on the other foot and maybe you will have some respect for another person's work.

KINGADROCK Try emailing the developer a question and see for yourself if he's rude or immature. In my experience he has been by far one of the easiest, most helpful developers I've EVER dealt with.

MISTERROGERS Hey Gryphonet, Thanks for the good words. Small correction though; iRatchet does support multiple currencies. Go to 'Manage Clients', select a client, go to the Invoicing tab, and select the currency you want to use for that client. If you want to view projects/items with the currency set for their client, go into preference/general, and uncheck 'Use default currency code for all clients'.

GRYPHONENT Well... no. The summary window showing profit loss will be totally out of whack. While I can raise an invoice with a different currency symbol (which is really good), the currency is not translated into the home currency. So, some 2,000 Euro and 2,000 dollars profit will show as 4,000 profit in the summary view... too good to be true, isn't it?

MISTERROGERS Very true; currency conversion is not supported yet. To some, this is necessary, but to many, it is not. My point wasn't that I don't have more work to do, but that there is multi-currency support. Many users find that the current implementation meets their needs. Maybe a more accurate comment would be 'partial' multicurrency support :-) | |

GRYPHONENT This is a great app... if youre based in North America. Unfortunately, iRatchet still lacks multi-currency support for businesses who have to invoice in more than one currency. Its invoice templates also look very American by nature and leave much to be wished for. If only iRatchet would sport the flashy templates and invoice/report customization features of Billings 2 or iBiz 3.

CELEBRITARIAN Thank you for taking your time to jot down those sentences: I tried out iBiz a while ago but5 left it in order to work more with it another day. --> Will try the other application you mentioned, right now :) I agree with you. iRatchet is a fine program for everybody in the U.S. This is a real shame, though - almost a bit sad - I felt that way the first time I tried iRatchet. Compared to other (both PC and Mac) solutions, this was a gorgeous app! In fact, I couldn't believe it back then. if there was an international application about as nice as iRatchet, I'd by a couple of licenses without thinking about something else. You are not a U.S. citizen? I come from Sweden and wouldn't buy it yet(?) - you're simply wasting your money, and more importantly, time, while you adapt to or tries to work with thiis... I want an application that I can trust from the first second, that's as easy to use as iRatchet and looks about as good, too (both on screen and the final result, print or mail). My biggest issue: I would want to know for sure that my solution was translated, and even more importantly, revised by someone from my country - someone who knows the laws, taxes... A more realistic approach: The developer knows or learns the rules for other countries as well. (Incorporate in the product and well.. profit from your knwledge) :-) I'm scared of writing something the wrong way, forgetting an important/tiny-and-unimportant-by-yet-required figure or phrase... I need to trust the tools I use - and I haven't had that feeling about iRatchet, a lot of it, but far from all the time, sadly enough. I did my first couple of invoices in Google Spreadsheets [by then, barely beta], to be honest. (Now, don't laugh or question my seriousity for a second!) ;-) Of course, no names/companies or real services was mentioned. Saved it and exported it to OpenOffice (NeoOffice today, though): In other words, my good-looking and correct invoices are made from a bunch of EXCEL documents... Limited to your templates, sure, but on a regular basis, sending an invoice takes a couple of minutes. However, my self-esteem when using a slow imitation of Microsoft's killer-app... Well, you get it :-) ANYONE WHO NEEDS A TOOL LIKE iRATCHET. Download it. Go, go. If you live in the U.S. everything should be _at least_ fine. However, everyone not from the U.S. - of course it's usable: Make sure you're confident with iRatchet's feature, though. > If you have your own business and prefers Mac OS X, I can't find one single reason not to buy iRatchet, instantly.

COOLFACTOR I was considering downloading this program, but the reactive comments from the developer turned me right on. Remember that people can be just as incompatible as software is. Don't let a few negative comments be a reason to post such personal judgments as "I think you're an arrogant idiot". I'll look elsewhere.

HMURCHISON This program is his labor of love. Feedback is certainly warranted but it must be constructive. Considering the experience of Jameskitty it would have been nice for us all to get suggestions about how the UI for iRatchet could be improved sans the accusatory prose. A little passion coming from the developer is actually pretty unique. I like that vigor myself.
