Duplicate Annihilator takes on the time consuming task comparing the images in your iPhoto library using effective algorithms to make sure that no duplicate escapes.
When found, the duplicate will either be marked with a description of your choice to make it searchable or simply moved to iPhotos trashcan.
STEVEN GOODHEART Every time I use this program -- just used it this morning to check a whole bunch of new images I imported into iPhoto recently and found several dozen dupes -- I think this is about the best $7.95 I've ever spent on anything. The program just *works* and has great built-in intelligence and best of all, safe-guards. I've tried other ways to find and elimnate dupes and really messed up my iPhoto library. With Duplicate Annihilator, I know my data is safe. This is a one-trick poney, but it's worth every penny. Highly recommended. (Version 2.23.0)
RORO01 FREEWARE ALTERNATIVE - Image Comparitor. Go to: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=171820&package_id=196459&release_id=430434 (Version 2.17.3)
BRATTOO PROPAGANDA SOFTWARE There are several freeware and commercial utilities such as the suggested Image Comparitor that locates duplicate files in the filesystem. However, when locating duplicates in iPhoto it is not sufficient to remove the files since the iPhoto library data base will then be corrupted since it points to image files that does no longer exists in the iPhoto library package.
Therefor, a word of advice: Messing with the files in the iPhoto library package or folder may cause a corrupt iPhoto library database and or loss of data. Therefor, be careful when attempting to use a generic duplicate detection tool when hunting for duplicates in iPhoto.
Duplicate Annihilator is not a generic duplicate detection tool but a tool designed especially for iPhoto and only Apples own API's and recommended methods when manipulating the iPhoto library and the images. (Version 2.17.3)

D~ I tried the demo, realized it worked great for the 500 photos that it will search... but I had just under 6000 photos to search so i purchased the program. There are still a few dupes left, but worth the 8 bucks to buy. (Version 2.14.1)

MSADESIGN I was contacted by Anders, the developer, and we are working this issue. I'll post the final results but I expect it will be resolved quickly.
I should point out that the issue is variable- sometimes it is there and sometimes it is not, so there will be some time in pinning down what is happening exactly.

ANONYMOUS I ran this but instead of finding duplicates I had (which I have in there, I've seen them), it moved all my recent movie clips to the trash (I had "move duplicates to iphoto trash" checked), which were not duplicates. And the duplicate photos remained. I would pay for something like this if it worked; I was very disappointed. (Version 2.1.1)
