DAVIDWB  Cool idea but I dumped it after 5 minutes. With a program of this nature I need some time to evaluate its stability and decide if I really want to spend so much money on it. Having 25% of my display proclaiming that this is a demo isn't something I want to look at while I'l deciding. When the developer comes up with a scheme that lets me take a real 10 day test drive I'll be back. Until then, into the trash it goes.

SHOTGUNWEDDINGS  For the people below with the black screen problem when exiting My Living Desktop!!

I find a way to fix the problem. Go to System Preferences - Security - disable Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver

Naughty, naughty developer not playing nice with Apple Security, shame on you!

ROAMING NOMAD  Thanks for the advice. It does work correctly when I disable a password prompt when exiting the screensaver.

But this is not a fix but instead a workaround.

This is not an option for many of us that require our Mac's to lock when we activate the screensaver and leave it alone. I will not leave my Mac without password protection when I am not near it.

I suppose I will give up on this software and purchase something else. The developer already made it quite clear how little support to expect.

ROAMING NOMAD  I too get the same endless black screen when I exit the screen saver.

I tried 4.56, 4.57 and today's 4.6

It's too bad the developer can't seem to fix this. Bad bugs = lost sales!!

KEVYK  My Living Desktop is pretty solid. While it is possible that there is a problem within the software, this usually indicates a preference issue or some other issue on that Mac. Out of thousands of installations, I've not heard of this problem.

ROAMING NOMAD  Say what you will. The guy earlier said he was using 10.5.8 and am using 10.6.2.

2 people report the same problem and you dismiss it as a preferences problem.

Too bad for you then. You just lost 2 potential customers and many others that haven't reported the problem.

LOL

ALIENDUDE  Easily the best desktop utility/screensaver/etc. ever made.

Works perfectly on 10.6.2 . Job well done, Kevin.

JAKE THE SNAKE  I tried the demo of 4.55 and 4.56.

There is still a very serious bug when leaving the screensaver. All I get is mini boxed version of the screensaver flashing in the upper left corner of my screen, then when I type in my user password then screen goes black and I am forced to power down with the power button because it stays stuck in the black screen.

I would really like to try this software out, but that is strike 2 with the the same annoying bug in 2 different versions.

I am using an Intel Mac with 10.5.8 and when I leave a screen saver I am always prompted for my password.

SANTINI   purchased and installed My Living Desktop (then called Serene Screensaver) the first day I bought my iMac (November 2007, I believe). It is absolutely the best "Desktop" I have ever seen or used, Apple, or otherwise. In fact, when I upgraded to Snow Leopard, the first software I purchased was the upgrade to My Living Desktop. It is even better than my previous version! More scenes, more sounds and upgraded features. The folks at mylivingdesktop.com provided excellent customer service, as well (something you very often don't get with most software vendors). I would definitely recommend anyone with a Mac purchase this application! I promise, you will not be disappointed. I am certainly not. Thanks!

MREDRUP  New scenes no longer available to the PAID PPC version.. I have completely lost respect for this company and I have been a long time customer. I have been using this since it was SereneScene and SereneSceenHD.

MC_SHIZZEL  Things I like:

- Easy way of having a dynamic desktop.

- Ability to import your own scenes.

- The Serenity Breaks feature (although I don’t use it but a nice feature to have).

- Option of having sound for the scenes on or off.

- Can also be used as the screen saver.

- Reasonable system resource footprint although I would recommend at least a Intel Core 2 Duo.

The things I don't like:

- The videos don't look all that sharp.

- There should be a MUCH better way to download additional scenes as of now you can’t preview nor can you choose which scenes you would like to download and there is no download progress indicator telling you how much of a specific scene you downloaded or how the file size of that scene so your left with either downloading them all or none without knowing how much time is left in the download and how much there is/was downloaded.

- The awkward location of the options menu inside the Desktop & Screen Saver preference pane, I would much rather it have its own preference pane under the “Other” category.

- It tends to be a buggy and a side note it doesn’t seem to allow GeekTool to run properly.

One last thing I've used this software since it was called Serene Saver, I was disappointed that the developer never sent any e-mail to inform me the software had changed names I just thought that the software had stopped being updated. This may have been an isolated incident but nevertheless there should be better communication between developer and end-user.

JOHNBOLS  Guys,

I have this and it is GREAT and the service you get is even better, I installed my Imac again on a sunday but forgot to write down the serial. The same day I got my serial from the owner.

I'm very happy!
