SZABESZ Not a bad start, I hope it will evolve into an easy to use and full featured Virtual Machine. You can find the docs on it website, but do not expect to much there :( It needs X11 to run, but this is not stated in the docs nor in the FAQ, and not in the requirements above. I tested it width OS 9.22. It seemed to be stable, no crash within the 30 minutes testing period :) Should you want install OS 9, do the following: 1. create a HSF formatted DMG file in the Terminal, like this: hdiutil create -megabytes 500 -fs HFS -volname OS922 ~/OS922 2. Create a writable(!) DMG file from your OS 9 boot CD-ROM. 3. Replace the "System" file in the newly created OS 9 DMG with a "System" from working installation of the same version of OS 9. This step is needed, cos the VM will not let you boot width the "System" file found on the boot CD's "System Folder". 4. Unmount your modified CD-ROM DMG image file, than Back it Up. You shoud create a backup, as it can easily become unusable. 5. set up the VM as stated in the docs, boot from the prepared install DMG. 6. Install OS 9 onto the empty DMG file created in step 2. (optionally you could just copy a workigng "System Folder" onto this, and select it as StartUpDisk after booting width the install DMG) 7. Back up the bootable 500MB DMG file. IMPORTANT: you can copy anything into the DMG files, but NEVER do that while the VM is using it. It will become unusable! |
