POGGI11  Hey Hendo,

If you don't like the UI for the controller you can always use the plain window. I am not here to upstage Apple's iTunes I only want to offer a simple way to control it with a minimum of interface clutter and with functions hidden but accessible via hidden buttons.

As they say, beauty is only skin-deep. What I am most interested in is the different utilities that are built into the application.

HENDO  of course, now that you have got the utilities working, why dont you just spend some time improving the UI, you have put all the effort into its awsome utilities, and making it look good will just be the icing on the cake...not necessary...but it always helps =^)

Thanks for the encouraging words. For a while, I was truly losing interest on this app because of discouraging reviews here. When I trace its history, most of the intervening versions were in scriptbuilders where i need not read thru those "smarty-alec" type of reviews. that's where this app had "matured" to the current state. i am grateful that i persisted.

I appreciate your suggestion very much. I will consider it in future versions. Meanwhile, perhaps it may help to note that there are some keyboard shortcuts to the hidden buttons. For example, if you press "Return" it can take you quickly to the plain window. That and a few more but I will still check into the Pref settings.

ROMEO OPENA  Thanks for the comment, whoever you are hiding under the Anonymous cloak. I can't understand really why you do this because your comments are legitimate and there's nothing to be afraid of unless the you can't back up your claims.

I have three issues regarding your comments.

First, don't compare apples with oranges. This is an AppleScript Studio app that you are comparing with Cocoa application like iMote. There are limits to what one can do with ASS (no pun with the word, please) vs. Cocoa programming.

Second, ever heard of the adage "Beauty is skin deep"? iMote is nice, real nice with all that Aqua stuff in there, courtesy of Cocoa. But how far can it go other than making it do, though in a real nice interface, what iTunes already does? Can it wake you up with nice music that you can snooze? Can it do other things that iTunes Manager can with its hidden tools? I doubt it.

Finally, i am not claiming that I am an expert programmer. Indeed, I am a newbie just doing this as a hobby. Yes, sir. I don't earn my living creating professional looking softwares. I am a geneticist-plant breeder by profession so you can see the reasons why my stuff may not look real pro. But, for whatever it's worth, my app is there and for sure, other people may find use for it, bloated interface or not. I appreciate this part of your comment though and may create a better looking version later on..given time away from my real work.

Perhaps, my only mistake is being naive about how many people view other people's work and the hours that went with it. The earlier reincarnations of iTunes Manager had gone freeware, donation-ware and now, shareware. Yet nothing ever changes. Freebies have that extra appeal to many.

And that's how it shall be from here on. I just wish everyone luck with freebies. For now they may be until they become addicted to the apps and then - you would have to buy the latest and the best version, like it or not. It's often the case so beware.

ROMEO OPENA  You can gripe about the interface alright. That's your opinion. However, I have to disagree with your statement that most of what is offered by the software is already in iTunes.

Certainly, if you just look at the mini-window of the app and do not go into the background windows, you will get that feeling. But, look hard enough and you will see a whole world of difference.

Does iTunes have an alarm clock? Does it have all the utilities integrated in one pane? Can it style the data window automatically? Can it format mp3 data? Perhaps it can do some if not all of that..and a whole lot more I did not care to mention...but surelyat the expense of your time and patience.

On your comment that the software should look like iTunes, I am sorry to say. I can't do that. I cannot copy iTunes' window, because the moment I do that, all Apple lawyers will be gunning after my tail. That's supposed to be a patented interface.

ANONYMOUS  To Developer: Apple would send their lawyers after you if you would follow the design guidelines?

Heck, for 20 years now Apple has even published those guidelines for all developers to follow.

My suggestion to you: buy Mac Inside issues 1 to 6, read through them, then you'll probably understand how a good Macintosh software interface should look like, and that there's a huge difference between just copying something 1:1 or using an interface style that has been propagated by Apple for all to follow.

HENDO  If you take a lok at my program I made at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22076 (it's an iTunes controller) you will notice how I gave it the kind of iTunes feel, without totally copying iTunes. The background image where the song info and progress is, was a simple grapic drawn in Fireworks. It's quite easy to create a nice looking iTunes-style interface. Mnay people don't realize what it feels like to have a program you worked so hard on shunned be tons of people so I will say nothing against your program. I appreciate the dedication and hardwork anyone puts in to a program. Well I hope this helps!
