DESCRIPTION
ArtRage is a fun and easy to use painting tool for Mac OSX that lets you play with realistic paints on your computer. You can create your own paintings from nothing, load in photos and recreate them with oil paints, pencils, felt pens, or any of the other tools ArtRage has to offer. You can experiment with metallic paint for gold leafing, sprinkle shiny glitter, fill in large areas with the paint roller, and generally paint, smudge, and smear your way to your very own masterpiece.
This new version of ArtRage comes in two versions. The Full Edition gives you all the new features, including four new tools, layers, metal paints, and much more for only $19.95US. The Free Edition contains all of the features of ArtRage 1, plus the speed and technology improvements in ArtRage 2 and a few new features for good measure.
REQUIREMENTS
G4 or better, Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

MACLOVER1.1 I find that Painter has become very dry over time, especially since the Corel years... less and less fun and more and more "palettish" and here you have ArtRage and its great ergonomy, not as powerful of course but but sufficient realworld paint/draw tools to do plenty. As for comments I read about resolution... not sure if pixels were limited in an earlier version... but I tried to set my page at 3508px X 4961px and it works (not quite real time but close on my G4... sure it'd be a breeze on a Quad G5 ) and that equates to an A3 page at 300 dpi... I would think it might suffice for most professional print uses LOL And it seems one could make one's page even much bigger (depending on Hardware of course). Yep very sweet app !!!!! It should be bundled with the OS... iPAINT LOL (Version 2.1.1)

AMERGIN Beautiful, elegant, responsive. Teamed with a graphics tablet this is an app which reminds you of what it was like to paint with real paints on real canvas. (Version 2.1.1)

JOHN F. Great app for a bargain price. You can have lots of fun and do amazing stuff. Nice clean interface, unlike Painter. (Okay, the two don't really compare, but I hate Painter's bloated pallets interface.) The other sketch app, SketchBook Pro, costs 10 times as much. For sketching and painting on my Mac, ArtRage offers plenty of tools and really responsive developers. This app needs more Mac exposure. We really need more apps like these. Thanks for the continuing Mac support! (Version 2.1)

J0SH0 Pure fun. That's all that needs to be said. MS Paint has NOTHING on this. And the best part about it, you don't have to use a powerful image editor that takes up half your RAM. Five stars across the board! (Version 2.05)

KHANH Draw and paint apps have always been difficult to master. ArtRage has broken down this barrier. Old shool artists will definitely jump into this app by choice. The freedom just to sketch and paint without a learning curve is there. Just a plain thank you from a designer/artist such as myself. (Version 2.05)

TONY_115 This is REALLY a great app-it's just like drawing on a canvas, AND it's FREE (and shareware) it's a really nice looking app and it's HEAPS cooler than MS Paint. (Version 2.0)

SIMTY I have been using Artrage with my kids for about a year. My 4 year old is CRAZY about it and has learned many of the computer basics from using AR1. Unfortunately AR1 is very unstable, it unexpectedly quits quite often. So when AR2 came alone I jumped at it. Sadly AR2 is no longer suitable for very young children specially using the free version as children can't read the dialog boxes the keep popping up due to features not being available in the free version. What would be great would to have a kids version with the stability of AR2, a simpler user interface like AR1 and a $10 price tag just to make it worth your while. Keep it simpler (Version 2.0)

JOHN F. Can sometimes be a little slow to follow my stroke at high resolutions. Okay, I only have a 1 GHz G4. This is still a great app and needs to be kept alive on the Mac platform. There aren't any good and simple, let alone cheap, natural media painting apps for the Mac. So even if I won't be using it that much, I will give the developers my $19.95, just for keeping the Mac version alive. This app needs better exposure in the media. I will review the full version at a later time. (Version 2.0)

NIAMOR Really really nice program ! It's a true pleasure to work with it. Fantastic with a pen tablet. And it's free ! A kind of utopia. (Version 1.1.2)
