BORDERLANDCROSS  Now if I could just rotate the clip and then save it this program would be perfect.

Thank you!

NEO979  It's not exactly right to say that it supports all the formats that QuickTime does. DRMed videos from iTunes (.m4v) actually play just fine in regular QuickTime Player, assuming they are licensed correctly for your machine. (You can try it if you don't believe me!) This program can't play them.

I'm a semi-pro developer, and I understand why it is difficult to support DRMed videos. I really just want to be able to make my iTunes videos "float" so they will stay in front (preferably translucently) while I do other things. iTunes can't float, movie-floater programs can't play iTunes files (with DRM), and this can't do either... sigh.

I understand that this was not really the purpose of this individual program. This is more of a general comment about what I'd like to see, not an attack on anyone.

BIG YELLOW BANANA  Cool. Without any modifications to QTAmateur 1.0, it gained support for the new "Export Movie to iPod" option after QuickTime 7 was updated.

It'd still be nice to see an update of this program though, so it can remember settings between encodes.

BIG GREEN BANANA  I'm betting that if you contact the developer via email that he will update the app.

L66  A very nice and clean little QuickTime player, you'd use it for the lack of a long startup and the absence the ugly metal alone!

The real power of this application is the batch exporting. It works awesome and should be in Quicktime Pro for years. Unfortunately it doesn't save the settings yet, but the alternative, converting 50 movies by hand is no option.

And wouldn't you toss your new $2999 G5 right back into the Apple Store trough the window when you'd find out you had to pay an additional 30 bucks to play a movie full screen? You would do that for less...

Those things make up for a missing movie info window and I think this application beats Quicktime Pro for most users, and not only because of the price or forced upgrades of Quicktime Pro.

EUG WANKER  This program is what Apple's QuickTime Player should have been, and then some. It plays QT movies without a hitch, including H.264 movies, and it does so without Apple's irritating nag screen. It also supports full screen playback unlike QT Player.

The real surprise though the full support for the myriad of encoding options, again including H.264.

The only nitpick I have is that each time you go to encode something, you have to re-enter all the settings. QTAmateur forgets all the settings after each encode. If QTAmateur 1.1 gets a preferences setting for encoding options and will remember settings between encodes, it will be just about perfect. The only other feature I'd really like to see (eventually) is a movie info window.

And the price can't be beat of course. :)

MICHAEL  Nice movie player that fixes one of Apple's bone head moves. Allows you to play movies full screen movies, without having to buy QT Pro.
